A Sinner's Wish
Pictures and thoughts rolling through the quiet night
Like frames in a silent movie flick.
The aroma of failure, hopelessness, and despair
Linger in the still air.
Tossing, and turning in endless sleepless nights,
The markings of a restless soul preparing for flight.
Images of betrayal and pain constantly shown
Cries of anguish that I've known.
Everything that has been done is too much.
Everything that has been done is never enough.
A losing situation from beginning to end.
A sinner's wish and silent plea,
To close his eyes and simply flee.
To walk where pain cannot be found,
where there are no discouraging sounds.
Tears that dry, and the silence of cries.
The end to answering, searching, and a soul constantly reaching.
Where is this place? Where can it be found?
It's heaven bound.
The sinner's wish you see,
Is to go home and with my Savior be.
