A Potter's Love

In the potter's hands a shapeless lump of clay
we all began.
Slowly the potter turns the wheel,
and the form within is revealed.
As I watched the potter's face,
I saw a glimpse of His amazing grace.
Slowly the potter closed His eyes,
and began to shape and mold,
this new creation for His fold.
I watched as He gave the form,
compassion and love on this day were born.
From the potter's wheel to the world He gave,
a love destined to save.
Your friendship is that light,
that was sent from above.
The potter gave to you,
compassion and kindness that knows no end,
a love unspoiled by human hand.
You show the Potter's love for all to see,
the way that love was meant to be.
When shaping you, He filled your cup to overflowing
with a love that keeps on growing.
You never judge or never pry,
or look at me and give a sigh.
You have always been the best of friends,
from beginning to the end.
That's what I think the potter meant for you to be,
a light for all to see.
