Character Description:
You have been working with FreeMarkets for several months. This new year eve, you have been invited to a new year’s eve party.
You realized that a number of your colleagues had been invited so you decided to come along.
At the Party
You arrived early at the party and found out that there were a lot of people, some of whom you do not know. But you were the most surprised to see Kalyan, as you did not know he was friends with another girl, called Min Khin..they appeared to be quiet close. But you did not want to ask Kalyan anything so as not to embarrass him…
You decided to take a walk….you arrived at the courtyard and saw a girl from the party , called another Rong Rong there..you decided to talk to her but before you had the chance to approach her, she left the seat. You sat at where she was, and realized that there was a notebook. Thinking that she may have left the notebook there you picked it up and open it. It was mainly a blank notebook. It has a TX123 letterhead and several designs…they looked like bracelet and necklace designs..
You took it with you intending to return it back to Rong Rong. You walked back to the room, but Rong Rong was not there. You decided to hold on to the notebook..
Points to recall:
- You will not be a suspect, since you went back to the room and spend most of your time there.
- Hold on to the notebook and reveal that only when it is the right time..it will be an important evidence..(hint hint)
Character Description:
You have been working very hard at Freemarkets. You spend many hours everyday at the office and jet-setting between the major cities of Asia.
The times when you are free, you like to go out with your friends at Carnegies. There you met a girl called Min Khin. Both of you form a very close friendship and you spend many hours talking to her, mainly about life, work, but most of all you shared with her information on your work, about your company business plans, on information you have gathered from your trader friends.
Min Khin has invited you to her new year’s eve party. From the invitation list, you realized that she was a mutual friend of your colleagues, Isnarti and Khim. You then start to worry if Min Khin had mentioned to them on how close both of you were and the information you have been sharing with her. You got worried and agreed to meet Min Khin at the party and find out how much Khim and Isnarti knows. You could ask then at work, but you did not want to start the topic in case they do not have any clue.
At the Party:
You arrived at the party early to help Min Khin with the preparation, and found out that Min Khin has invited a lot of people, some of whom you do not know. You realised, some of the guests, Min Khin’s friends has been discussing abt Min Khin’s new found wealth. You thought Min Khin had all along looked rich, but you had no idea this was something newly acquired. You had just known her over the last 2 months, and regretted not knowing more about her background. You also begin to worry if Min Khin’s so called new found wealth has anything to do with the trade secrets you have been sharing with her. Whatever it is, you wanted to find out…
To be read at Fullerton:
You recalled that you had gone up to Min Khin to talk to her. Wanting some privacy, you had asked her to talk at the stairwell. She looked very distracted and distraught and said that things are complicated..that there are society people around.. you wondered what society she was talking about..
You then asked her about the information you have been sharing with her. She looked pissed when you ask her and brushed you aside saying that she’ll discuss this with you later. She said to meet her at the pool at 9:00 pm. She said it’s important and she has something for you. Both of you heard some noises and prepared to go back to the party.
Later in the evening, you prepared to go to the pool, but as you were heading there. Khim stopped you in your tracks and demanded to know the pipeline for Nestle so that she can plan her leaves for the following 2 months. Once you started discussing about Nestle, you realized that you had a lot to tell her about work (as usual). When you are done you realized you were late, it was already 9:15pm. You left her and wandered around looking for the pool..after 5 minutes, you realized you were lost. Luckily you met Khim, and he showed you the way to the pool. As you rushed there, you heard a scream coming from the Asian Spa, located beside the pool..you rushed down and you found a girl from the pool, you recalled her name was Mary. Beside her was Min Khin…

An engineering graduate from NUS, you've skipped most of your lectures during your college years preferring to spend weekn afternoons catching movies and shopping with your good friend MK. Despite that, you’ve managed to perform pretty well in your studies and landed yourself a job with SIA as a management trainee after graduation.
Because of your wayward ways during your secondary school years, you’ve gotten mixed up with bad company. Many of them are associated with the powerful Malaysian secret society, Kaki Kaki. Through them you knew the gang leader, Ali. Ali is suave and handsome and you fell for him instantly and is contented being his 2nd mistress. But all that was 3 years ago, you want to leave all these behind. You are also very keen to get away from the secret society and loose all ties with them. So far you have manage this well, but every-time you hear news about any secret society dealings, you will get distressed and scared for you know the dark sides. You tell yourself you will never want anyone of your loved ones or close friend to be involved. Your friends do not know about your dealings with secret society.
You’ve now gotten sick of Ali as well, and you found yourself a lover. Your lover could not spend X’mas nor New Year with you in Singapore, as he had to return to his country to spend the holidays with his family. You are also unable to join him there because of your other commitments here. Sad that you two can’t spend your first X’mas together, you attend MK’s New Year Eve celebration with a heavy heart.
As MK’s close fren, you are aware that Min Khin has got close to Isnarti’s friend, Kalyan. You also know that Kalyan has been providing her with timely insider information. And you are wondering if this was how Min Khin has suddenly got very rich. You just hope that Min Khin knows what she is doing and does not get herself into trouble.
For the New Year Eve party at Fullerton, you decided to put your thoughts of your boyfriend aside by focusing your energy putting together a fantastic party getup. MK had mentioned that she had something to announce. You’ve figured that it’s probably going to be her engagement to her longtime boyfren Ben. You intend to ask her about the trading stuffs during the party.
You also intend to speak to MK abt your love life as well.
At the Party:
You arrived at the party early to help Min Khin with the preparation, and found out that Min Khin has invited a lot of people, some of whom you do not know. You realised, some of the guests, Min Khin’s friends has been discussing abt Min Khin’s new found wealth. You are secretly pleased to know the reason behind this, you figured this was probably from her trading activities.
At the party, you were continously being approached by guys. You are rather flattered and think that your party assemble has indeed been a good investment. One of the guys was Melvin. You know that he’s a triad member and you later wonder abt his connections with MK. You suddenly felt scared for Min Khin and felt protective of her.
You decided to talk to her to warn her to be careful but before you had a chance to MK looked at her watch and said that she had to go for an appointment at the hotel poolside. You are now left alone at the room and you mingle with the other guests.
At the Party ( to be given to Ramlah when she arrives at Fullerton )
Extras:
Abt 10 mins after MK has left the room, you are killing time talking to Mary. You realised that you cant help missing your boyfriend and forgetting it was not that easy. You were quite sad. Mary started talking to you about Min Khin’s wealth. You were already feeling sad and now getting irritated. You felt like shutting her up. She sounded so kaypoh, but you wanted to layan her. So you have said something about “ I would kill to know how she got so much money!!”
She then left you and most of the other guests soon find some excuse to leave the room. You then went to the toilet..you spend sometime there and while you were in there, you heard some noises in the room. You peep into the room and saw Rong Rong rummaging and going thru some bags in the room. You wanted to surprise her by barging into the room, but decided not to..rather you wanted to wait and see what she was up to. But suddenly, someone came in from the balcony. It was Khim.. Rong Rong had a shock when she heard Khim coming..she hastily dropped what she was doing and left the room..
You got out of the toilet and told Khim you saw Rong Rong too.. Then Isnarti entered the room, followed by the other guests. You looked out for Min Khin but she was not around...
Points to Ponder
- Min Khin had said she had an appointment, could she have gone to see someone..could it be the murderer?
- Mary heard you saying the pharase “ I wuld kill..” could hse have gone to murder Min Khin and had hoped to frame you? You may want to be careful of her…
- You wonder if Melvin has anything to do with the murder. You are tempted to expose him as a triad member but you think otherwise as it doesn’t speak well of you
- MK may be killed for because of her trading activities, perhaps Kalyan was the murderer?
- On the other hand, maybe the ppl who has been discussing abt MK’s wealth could be a greedy murderer?
- And what was Rong Rong up to? Is it wise to expose her?
- You have been in the room all the while. So you are an important witness
Character Description:
You graduated a year ago from NUS and managed to secure a job at FreeMarkets. There you were assigned to a team working on the largest Food company in the world. You were very happy with your job, however sometimes you do have conflicts with your boss, Kalyan.
Kalyan is a smart guy but sometimes he can be forgetful and does not know how to take care of himself. The last few days he has been looking rather distracted and acting rather edgy. You wonder if this was anything to do with work, but he denied this when you asked. Anyway, it should not be, as the account you have been working on is doing pretty well. And soon your intuition tells you that it may be because of external affairs.
You have been invited to a party, organized by your former schoolmate Minkhin . You decided to go to get your mind off work.
At the Party
You arrived early at the party and found out that there were a lot of people, some of whom you do not know. But you were the most surprised to see Kalyan, as you did not know he was friends with Min Khin..they appeared to be quiet close. But you did not want to ask Kalyan anything so as not to embarrass him…
You then decide to go to the balcony to take photos. You were there for a long time..and did not realize that a lot of the guests had left the room momentarily ( they had wandered off around the hotel or went to get more food). You decided to get back to the room. You got into the room to find only another girl, you recalled her name as Rong Rong, searching for something in the closet… She looked shocked when she saw you, excused herself and left the room. As soon as she left, Ramlah appeared from the toilet and gave you a puzzled look.. she said she saw Rong Rong rummaging thru the closet as well…but both of you did not dwell on it anymore. All the other guests soon came back to the room…..
You decided to look for Kalyan…
At the Party ( read this when you arrive at Fullerton )
Recall that you had arrived at the party and saw several people suspiciously. You had seen Rong Rong snooping around.

You had gone out to look for Kalyan. He was not among the guest in that room. You decided to take a walk around the hotel. You were walking around the courtyard when Kalyan appeared. He asked for the time. You looked at the clock and saw that it was 5 minutes to nine. You then asked him how she got to know Min Khin. He said that she has been going to Carnegies, and you met her there. He then started talking about the last Tinplate bid and his trip to Bangkok. He seemed very pleased when he start talking about work, and went on and on..after he was done you looked at the clock and saw it was 9:10. He suddenly got reminded of the time, and asked you where the pool was..you told him it was on the 2nd floor. He said he had to leave and went off. You were hanging around for a while more and then decided to go back..as you were walking back about 5 minutes later..you saw Kalyan again, looking lost.. he asked you again where the pool is. And this time you decided to bring him there..
You showed him the pool area and left him..looking rather puzzled. As you walked away you saw that the clock on the Victoria Concert hall was showing 9:25 pm….you walked back to the lift on the 2nd floor, you met Melvin, he asked you if you know where to get alcohol as he has been wandering around to look for the duty free shop..you said you did not know of any shops. You decided to go back, Melvin wandered off to look for alcohol

And since getting there, you have invested a huge chunk of your earnings into various shares and investment plans. Unfortunately, the bursting of the Tech bubble, weakening global economy combined with the recent 911 incident have floored every share you've invested. Your debts are piling up but you've kept these problems to yourself. You struggle to keep up with appearances and start giving excuses for not turning up for parties and clubbing to restrict your expenditure. Your frens however have not noticed anything amiss.
Since last year, you have also been a financial adviser to Min Khin. Hence you are surprised to discover that she has been doing well. MK's extravagant ways have not gone unnoticed to you. You felt dissed as it seems that she has been doing contrary to what you had advised her. If she had followed, she will be in a bad financial state like you. You felt that she should not been enjoying it while you suffer as you are also her good friend. You suspect that MK's either been borrowing a lot of $$ or she has been participating in some get-rich-scheme.
Min Khin has invited you to the New year Eve party. She had mentioned that she had something to announce.. You are wondering if this has anything to do with her new-found wealth..even if it is not, you are eager to find out..

At the Party:
You arrived at the party early to help Min Khin prepare for it, and found out that Min Khin has invited a lot of people, some of whom you do not know. You realised, some of the guests, Min Khin’s friends had also noticed Min Khin’s new found wealth. But they do not seem so eager to find out about the source as you are. You may not have much time to have a private talk with Min Khin but you were determined to find out. You were about to talk to her when some man she knew named Kalyan showed up, and he dragged her off to the stairwell to talk. Intrigued, you followed and stood by the stairwell door, listening in. Unfortunately you cant hear clearly except that Min Khin was shouting something about meeting at the pool when the party gets to full swing. You are not sure if this has anything to do with the money but you wanted to find out.
While you were listening, you heard a sound at the end of the hall, and saw a girl, Rong Rong, you recalled - entering the hall. You turned to face her, but she backed down for some reason and went back to the party before you could make an excuse. Just then you heard Min Khin and Kalyan preparing to leave, so you quickly turned and headed back to the room.
At the Party ( read this when you arrive at Fullerton )
Recall that you had went to snoop on Min Khin and a guy at the stairwell. Recall that Rong rong bumped into you , when you were doing so. Then you headed back to the party....

Few hours later, when the party kicks in, you were getting bored. You were talking to Ramlah, Min Khin’s friend who was acting in a weird way. She looks a bit sad. She may be missing her boyfriend. But she suddenly said something about killing and money. You ignored the killing portion thinking that she must be depressed, but the word money reminded you of the pool meeting you wanted to snoop on. Min Khin was nowhere in sight, so you thought maybe she has gone to the pool.
You made your way there, from the pool, you could see the clock at the Victoria Concert Hall. It says 9pm. and waited for about 10 minutes. No one appeared. Thinking that you may have missed them, you decide to go back to the party. But before that, you wanted to check out the Asian Spa. It was closed time, but the attendant had not locked the place. You decided to snoop and checked out the toilet, the massage room and the hydrobathroom. You realised there was also a gym besides the spa. You went there and met this hunk jogging at the track. You flirted with him for awhile. Suddenly you realised you have been gone from the party for long. You decided to go back but suddenly there was a loud scream coming from the pool...
You ran out and saw Min Khin’s lying beside the pool. You’re not sure what happened. You ran to her to revive her. But you realised she is dead...
Then Kalyan appeared at the pool..
1) Points to recall:
You were the person found with the body. There was no-one else. Other guests will start suspecting you..so you have to figure out a reason why you were at the pool, you must think of an alibi or else point the finger at someone else.
- You heard Kalyan and Minkhin at the stairwell talking about meeting. You may want to question Kalyan. Who is he anyway?
- Ramlah said something about killing. she looked depressed. Can she be a suspect? if so why did she said out loud about killing, it will be stupid to You may want to talk to her. Maybe she knows something about Min Khin. Both often confide to each other.
-Rong Rong , you dont know who she is, but she saw you behaving suspiciously at the stairwell. She appeared to be going to the stairwell when you were there . Was she suppose to be apart of the pool meeting?
-how about the mysterious hunk? you had forgot to ask his name..but if only ,you can find him to help verify you were at the gym when you heard the scream.

Character Description:
A second year MBA student at the NUS. Unknown to your friends, your ancestors founded Singapore's most influential secret society (Hung Hing). You showed a fair amount of talent at school and his classmates knew nothing abt your links to the triads. Your dad has been grooming you steadily over the years to take over his helm at Hung Hing and you feel like you’re ready to take over when he retires next year.
You did well as an Engineering undergrad at NUS, and then proceeded into the Business school, having already taken several classes there. You kept to mostly to yourself in NUS but still had his friends like YY, WY and Caren.
Two months ago, YY came asking if she could borrow some money. Well, a lot, really. She said that she needed the capital for some business.. As she was your friend, you did not really ask her for her business plans.Now, this loan has been more problematic that you’ve wished for. Firstly you’d always refrained from loaning friends money as loan collection would surely be a sticky affair. Secondly you fears have came true now that YY has not paid up her. You decided to press her to reveal her business plans.. you wanted the money but you also wanted to help her. She proofed to be a hard nut to crack, so you decided to try the soft approach and brought her out drinking and dining.
You saw a glimpse of opportunity here from what Yanyi had just told you. You have also been invited to a new Year’s Eve party, and though that this was the right moment to proceed with your plan….

At the Party ( to be given to Melvin when he arrives at Fullerton )
You arrived at the party with WY and found out that there were a lot of people, some of whom you do not know. You overhear some of the guests discussing abt Min Khin’s new found wealth, but you are most surprised to see RL, the mistress of the powerful Malaysian gang leader. You introduced yourself to her and find out that she’s aware of your triad connections.
On the way back to the room after your cigarette break, you see Yanyi talking to Min Khin at the common corridor and overheard them say that they are to meet at the poolside 10 minutes later. You are immediately reminded that during one of those late nites with yanyi, yanyi had mumble something about her involvement in some ruby smuggling trade. Knowing that MK is of Burmese decent, you are pretty sure that the meeting later would have something to do with this.
Making sure that the two ladies did not notice your presence, you head back to the room and joins WY with her conversation with Mary. 15 mins later, on the pretext of getting more alcohol you leave the room to look for MK and Yanyi.
There was no one in sight at the pool. Disappointed, you decided to take a tour of the hotel premises and headed towards the Spa. On the way, you heard conversation from the ladies restroom and decided to eavesdrop.
You overhear Yanyi demanding MK to return her 50K. You realized that the money loaned to Yanyi had in fact been transferred to MK. The conversation escalated to an argument and you clearly hear yanyi threatening to lock MK in the sauna. Later you heard a door slammed shut. You hear footstep and hid behind the pillars. Yanyi emerged alone from the restroom and certain that there was no one else. You entered the ladies.
You found MK trapped in the sauna and wanted to make use of her compromised position to demand a share of her ruby smuggling trade. MK was adamant and refused. You are angered and turned the temperature to the max hoping that would make her change her mind.… Decided to kill her so that you will take over the entire trade.
After 5 min, you realized MK had died. (she died of heart failure) u leave the premises and went to the nearest 7 eleven to get a bottle of vodka. You returned to the party with the vodka

Soon after, the news of MK’s death has spread to the guests in MK’s room. You pretend to be surprised and try to act calm. But before you intend to do so, everyone is called to assemble MK’s room. Apparently a murder clue has been found. (threatening note)
1) Points to recall:
You must start implicating ppl to MK’s death. The first person to come to your mind is Yanyi. But how to expose their meeting without implicating yourself?
- You see Ramlah at the party. Perhaps there are other triad associates at the party. Maybe MK was a member herself.
- Rong Rong, she can be your alibi. But you don’t know what she did before you bumped into her at the corridor. What if she’s the killer?
- You may want to use Yanyi as your alibi too. But you would have to approach her so that you two can fudge the conversation that occur between you two at the corridor in order to hide your identity.
- Perhaps you should just disapppear rite now?

Your Character:
You have been Min Khin’s close friend for many years. However the past year both of you have drifted apart, partly because of your work commitments. You job as a lawyer has been very stressful with long hours. Since a few months ago, you have considered about switching careers. Unknown to your friends, you have been interested in some investigative work. A month ago you have quit your job and joined the CID. Your first assignment was to figure out about a smuggling trade. This has involved huge amounts of illegal trading of gemstones such as rubies, emeralds, and jades.
You remembered that Min Khin had just came back from Myanmar and had mentioned to you that it was a land rich with natural resources and earth treasures. At this time, you were already desperate for some lead, any lead in fact, so when she dropped you a note about a new year’s eve party, you accepted in the hope that you may get to know about Myanmar and her treasures from Min Khin.
You were preparing for the party when your senior gave you a tip that some exchange with involving gemstones from Myanmar , was going to occur at Fullerton on New Year’s Eve. Your heart beats faster as that was where you were suppose to be on new year’s eve. Could Min Khin be a link somewhere in this ? You have to find out…
Your Character:

Despite that, you’ve been consistent in the stuff that matters. Projects and homework were delivered on time, which contributed to an overall impressive academic result. Your first job was with Anderson Consulting and you're enjoying your new working life at the spanking new office in Raffles City Towers.
2 months ago, WY’s fren MK approached you for a big favour: to help her take a loan from Melvin. It was a big sum of money and on normal circumstances, you wouldn’t have agreed to this. But MK was desperate and you couldn’t talk yourself out this deal. So reluctantly, you agreed. You managed to borrow $50K from Melvin explaining that you needed capital for a business startup.To your disappointment, MK vanished after getting the money and you have a hard time contacting her to collect her monthly repayments. Worse of all news has been spreading around that MK has suddenly became very wealthy.
On the other hand, Melvin has been taking you out for dinners and drinks. He seems to be pretty concerning abt your business startup and has been asking many questions abt the business. This New Year Eve, you have been invited to MK’s party at Fullerton. You think this will be a good chance for you to collect the money from her.
At the Party
You arrived at the party with Melvin and Wai Yeng. Min Khin has invited a
lot of people, some of whom you do not know. MK is busy entertaining her guests
and you hover around observing her movements. You plan to approach her once
she's alone so that you two can have a private talk abt her loan.
You see the chance arriving when MK leaves the room to fetch another guest.
You meet her at the common corridor and arranged a meeting with her 10 min later
at the hotel poolside. MK agrees and makes her way down to the lobby.
You return to the room and talk to Wai Yeng and Mary for a while and then
leaves the room for the appointment. As you are slightly early, you hover around
the poolside, and admire the beautiful view from the pool.
Suddenly Wai Yeng appears from behind and thrusts you a piece of paper. You
are taken aback coz you’ve been too engrossed looking out at the view. You read
the note and it says, "Pay Up or you’ll Die!!" Wai Yeng then said that she’s
sending the note on behalf of Melvin and that you’ll be risking your life if you
delay the payments again. She then leaves you to be alone and you tear the note
up in frustration. You promise yourself that later you'll teach MK a lesson for
causing all these trouble.
MK arrives at pool a little late and upon seeing her, you demand that she
returns $50K immediately. MK is uncooperative and the conversation escalates to
an argument. MK drags you to the side and suggested to continue the talk at the
Asian Spa bathroom. Making sure that there was no one in the bathroom, you
continued to press her for repayment.
Incensed that all this talk was heading nowhere, you shove MK into the sauna,
threatening to lock her in overnite. Somehow all these threats don't work on MK
and she’s still refusing to repay the loan. You then leave her locked in the hot
sauna hoping that that will teach her a lesson.
You make your way back to the room and talked to Ramlah and RongRong. About
half an hour later, 2 hotel guards arrive with Mary and they inform the guests
that Mary has been found dead in the sauna!
Points to Ponder
You are the one who left MK in the suana, but she was still alive when
you left!
Who would have know that you could have killed her??
Wai Yeng met you at the pool just now, would she accuse you of murder?
How abt accusing Wai Yeng of the murder!?
What abt Mary? Why is she with the guards?
