Is this Taking the Biscuit? York City's decision to change the name of its ground to KitKat Crescent has generated much publicity in recent weeks. Many people find the decision rather amusing; others are adamant that York should not have sold the name of their ground. Yet most people in the city recognise that the decision was necessary. For while it is sad to see the historical name of Bootham Crescent disappear, York are in need of the cash, and most people would rather see York playing next season at KitKat Crescent and in the Conference than at Bootham Crescent and in the Conference North, playing the likes of Durham City and Harrogate Town. If this sponsorship helps York get back into the football league then long may it continue. At the time of writing we are unbeaten at KitKat Crescent, so it seems to be doing the trick so far. As for the people on the Scarborough F.C. website having a laugh at us, have they forgotten what their own ground is called? The McCain Stadium! For those of you outside the UK, who all know what KitKats are but have probably never heard of McCain, they make horrible chips (more like french fries really) that are soggier than the stuff you get in McDonalds.
