After a rather lackluster start to the 2002 championship, the
West McLaren Mercedes squad have managed to pick up some very
valuable points in the last two events with a win in Monaco
courtesy of David Coulthard and second in Canada, also courtesy of
the Scot while teammate Kimi Raikkonen picked up and extra three
for his fourth placed finish in Montreal.
The team has now confirmed that it is developing a new rear
suspension and gearbox package, to aid in their quest to compete
at the front opf the grid on a regular basis, but is not yet
certain at which race it will make its debut on the MP4/17.
"It's got to be quicker than what we've got already before we race
it," explained McLarens MD Martin Whitmarsh.
