The Stranger in the Mirror

Ever since you went away, I see a stranger in my mirror, Instead of the lovely smiling face, Which you adored and praised. I see a face, creased with anger, Lined with worry and pain, The eyes reflecting misery, Wet, where tears have stained. The spark of light is missing, Sadness fills the eyes, Hatred pours, and wipes away, All traces of a smile. The stranger in the mirror, Looks up and stares at me, I look away, look back again, Shocked, I realise, its me! - Tathheer Fathima M.
