Two new hashers Beaver Fever and Des, turned co- hares, Des so new at this he was almost a Virgin and a Co-hare at the same time! - thanks Clipper Hash for making sure that did not happen - went out to set a hash on the first summery long weekend of the year.
With thoughts that 5 or 6 hashers might turn up on a lazy long weekend afternoon in the sun, what happened? -it was not to be . . . at least 15 hashers came. So with hashers plentiful and as with many a first hash ( so I'm told) - potentiality for a bit of distance we set off counter clock-wise round the park gaining altitude in an intriguing yet circuitous sort of way. Past cliffs, old fence wire, special trail markings . . .
Then a funny thing happened at the second or third halt - we lost Stoolie and Digger up a false trail!!! They just went up the trail and kept going - didn't cum back. The hares were momentarily perplexed. Then remembered that some hashers (Digger) who walk their dogs in the park might have seen the trail markings in the morning and so be guiding a slightly hung-over Stoolie straight to the VP. We quickly gave up the search and left them behind.
There was as much climbing on narrow goat paths as running and we all got to the expected "little Mount Doug" VP (should someone go to the summit next time?). People were getting thirsty. But the trail down was too steep and we had no auxiliary supplies. . . So with renewed enthusiasm we passed the SS mark (Sit Spot), the "cougar cave and the parallel trail markings and crossed the Mnt Doug Parkway back toward the BC.
Earlier Grog had said his conditioning was cumming along but we gave him a radio and a map eventually - he used it well arriving at the BC on time. As did Hot Nuts who walked a separate route.
Whoremoan, out on a "training run" - shame . . . saw the "NB" markings and shamelessly followed the trail markings and crashed the BC staying only long enough to douse a beer.
The beer check was starting to drag on a bit and people seemed to be settling in rather that getting ready to move on -no one was making any moves at all to leave Des's beautiful back yard, Plummer's Mate entertained the dogs and BUB received a personalized horticultural tour from the master gardener. It was so, so nice back there in the sun shine! - no-one was leaving!!! So with promises to mumble in the right places, we agreed to do religion at the back part of the yard. Just as people were thinking of circling up, Janet (Des's wife not BUB) arrived home. Jack-off, always the smooth talker, expressed concern that we might offend to her or the neighbours - as Raedene invited Janet to the circle explaining that "this was the really weird part". . . come see . . . - it was ok though - I think Des is still allowed to "play" at the hash.
On afters were good at 1550's Pub Style restaurant. We had to boost up our optimistic reservations at 1550's from 12 to 14! - though unfortunately Des couldn't make it for dinner. At 1550's some people even got into the "pub spirit" and started singing!! Others did not think it was a good idea to sing "Why are we waiting slowly masturbating" to the cooks while they still had the food.
Thanks to the Victoria Orienteers for the high detail high resolution map of Mnt Doug. Thanks Co-Hare Des.
