Hebrew Subtitles

I've created Hebrew subtitles files to be associated with various online videos. These files are listed in the following table, next to a link to the corresponding video. I license each of my files under the Creative Commons Attribution--Share-Alike license, which means that use of these files is free even for commercial purposes, but that if they are modified, the modification should be licensed under the same terms as this license.

Each of the subtitles files is formatted according to the SubRip conventions. Such files usually carry the suffix ".srt". Unfortunatly, i'm forbidden from uploading to this site files with this suffix, so i've renamed each of them, changing their suffix to ".txt". This change is trivially reversible. All the subtitles files are UTF-8 encoded.

In order to view the videos with the corresponding subtitles on a Linux operating system, using the Totem Media Player program, proceed as follows.

1. Download the video to your hard-drive as well as the corresponding subtitles file. Save both files in the same directory.
2. If needed, convert the video from to the AVI format (using ffmpeg, for instance).
3. Give the video and the subtitles files the same name, but different suffixes: ".avi" for the video file and ".srt" for the subtitles file.
4. Make sure the "~/.myplayer/config" file contains the following lines:

                     flip-hebrew=yes
                     fribidi-charset=ISO8859-8
                     slang=he
                     font=/usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/Arial.ttf
                     subfont-encoding=ISO8859-8
                     subfont-text-scale=4
                  

   But make sure the value associated with the "font" entry is a path leading to the "Arial.ttf" or "arial.ttf" font file on your computer.
5. Open the video file with Totem Media Player. The subtitles should be added automatically.
