Sts. Peter & Paul's Church on Filbert Street in North BeachHello everybody and welcome to my website. I made this site because I didnt want to see any other Italian neighborhoods diminish. Im from San Francisco,California and I dont want to see my once predominant Italian neighborhood, North Beach district, turn into a yuppie neighborhood. Every time a house goes up for sale we need to have an Italian buy it. Prices are pretty high in San Francisco but I know some Chinese people who came here two years ago with nothing and the three of them bought an $800,000 home. The three brothers came here and worked all the time, some times even seven times a week in construction. If they could do it, why cant we?
The mainstreet in North Beach where the shops and stores are is on Columbus Avenue and Stocken Street. We need Italian owned and operated businesses to open back up. We only have a few delis and a few real traditional businesses left. Wouldnt you just love it if you walked down the block and could run into the bakery and get a nice fresh sourdough bread or go down the block for a mouth-watering cannoli? So, why not bring those good times back? We need Italian businesses down here A.S.A.P. How about another real traditional Italian deli, a butcher shop or two, a little grosseria, a little ravioli or pasta factory, some real traditional Italian cafs and I dont mean Starbucks! Another Italian owned and operated place we should have is a hardware store, some more markets, a salumeria and a fish market or two, yes Ill admit it I like baccala. We also need to be active, so lets get some more Italian athletic clubs or an Italian boxing club. I also heard stories of Italian bakeries and social clubs on every block. Lets get those back, too.
So come on everybody we have to come together to preserve our neighborhood and our culture so we can pass it on to our youth. We have to do it. I dont know about you, but I really dislike it when we have a parade and arent even acknowledged for it. But when theres a Latino parade it hits the front page. So come on everybody I hope to see you soon and I want to see all of you at the markets, playing sports at the schoolyards, or just hanging out on the front stoop. I encourage you to contact me with any questions or comments. And a special thanks goes out to Justin Cristaldi for helping me with this site. A presto. I just want to remind you that I am not in the real estate business and that I'm not earning anything out of this project just the joy of having an Italian neighborhood. Like the old saying goes, "Italians: Cash Poor, Property Rich." Thank you.
More To Come!
