| Choosing A Pendulum |
| Ideally, the pendulum should weigh approximately 3 oz. and be round in shape, preferably moving down to a point at the bottom. Some of the commercially made ones have a hollow compartment inside them. They are called "sample pendulums". the idea of these is to place a small sample of whatever it is you are searching for inside the compartment before starting to dowse. Example: If you were seaching for water, you can insert a few drops of water into this compartment. Types of pendulums: basic drop; mermit; glass with hollow compartment; crystal. |
| Making Your Own |
| Take your time and choose the materials carefully. You may might perfer a natural material like wood or crystal. Or you can carve one out of lucite, a fishing sinker or a cotton reel. you need to be careful with metal weights because they usually act like a conductors, and this can affect the reading you obtain when using it. DON'T use copper or aluminum. Best to use one that is not a conductor. The weight needs to be ideally semetrical, for it to have good balance and more sensitive and easier to use. one you figured out what weight you wanna use, you need to choose what to suspend it from. Cotton or silk thread, string, cord, hair and jewelry chains are the common used items. |
| How To Operate A Pendulum |
| Most people perfer to use it using the same hand they write with. Practice with both hands, but start your experiments using the hand you write with if its more comfortable. If you are sitting down, rest your elbow on a table and hold the thread or chain of your pendulum between your thumb and first finger, using the least amount of pressure possible. Make sure your hands and legs are uncrossed. If you sunconsciously protect yourself in this way you will effectively close off the pendulum and won't work the way it should. Experiment to test the theory; While hold it, letting it swing, cross your legs or bring your feet together. You'll find it will slow to a stop. When you are finally comfortable with the pendulum, stop the movement of the weight with your free hand. When the pendulum is still, ask it which way, or movement, indicates "yes" or a positive response. YOur pendulum will move one of four ways: It may move back and forth, from side to side, or swing in a circle, clockwise or counterclockwise. After asking what is yes, and no, ask it the response for "Idon't know" and "I don't want to answer". These responses with probable last for the rest of your life and rarely ever change if ever. Start by asking it questions that you already know the answer to like, 'Am i a male?' if you are, or the opposite if you are not. You will find that even thinking the questionin your head, as soon as it pops up, you'll start getting your answer. The pendulum is able to answer these because it can tap your subconcious mind for the answers, and then bring them back to your conscious mind. your conscious mind knows a reasonable amount, but your powerful subconscious mind contains much, much more information. DON'T ASK THE SAME QUESTION!! If you need to ask the same question, rephrase it. |
| How Does It Work? |
For at least 200 years people have known that the unconscious, involuntary movements of the hand holding the pendulum cause the pendulum to move. The unconscious mind of the person holding the pendulum causes the muscles to react unconsciously. This is known as an indeomotor response (ideo means "idea" and motor means "movement"). The pendulum amplifies responses that would otherwise be too small to notice. Consequently, the answers are coming from inside you. |

Practice, practice and more practice.... Her's a few rules: Never use the pendulum frivolously. If you can make the decision yourself, leave it alone. Do not ask the pendulum the same question twice at the same session. This implies doubt. You must trust the answer it gives you. Never 'show off'' your abilities with the pendulum. Ask someone else to use the pendulum if you are emmotionally involved in the outcome. Use the pendulum for good purposes only. The pendulum becomes in tune with you so don't let other people's energies interfere with this. |

Verne Cameron, a professional dowser from California, proved to the United States Navy in 1959. He contacted Vice Admiral Maurice E. Curtis and said that he could use his pendulum to locate all the submarines in the world's seas, and also determine to which nationality they belonged. The navy took him up on his offer, and Verne Cameron demonstrated his abilties to the staff. It took justa few minutes to locate the American submarines. The navy was impressed but Verne Cameron did not realize how success he had be until several years later when he applied for a passport. His request was refused because the CIA concidered him a security risk.. |
