Blood Pressure
Checker
Go ahead and enter your blood pressure
(i.e., the two numbers your doctor, health care professional, your
spouse, etc. gives you). The Blood Pressure Checker will classify
your blood pressure (e.g., "Normal"). You can also drag
the needles in the scales to see how changes in your systolic and
diastolic values would change your classification and to see which
numbers you should strive for or "avoid". You can enter
your systolic and diastolic numbers yourself or you can use the
arrows. You can also use the PageUp and PageDown keys to edit your
numbers as well after clicking inside the box with the number.
Reference Fifth Report
of the Joint Committee on Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of
high Blood Pressure (JNCVV), Archives of Internal Medicine, 153,
154-183 (1993). Critically low systolic blood pressure is not indicated
by this calculator. Systolic pressure is considered critically low
for male adults/adolescents when 90 or less, for female adults/adolescents
when 80 or less, and for children when 70 or less.
