Church of St. Michael
Hillview, Newfoundland

St. Michael's Church

In 1968, the Anglican congregation of Hillview set up a committee to raise funds for the purpose of building a new church to replace an approximately one hundred year old building.

After five years of fund raising through collections, donations from individuals, and ACW bake sales and socials, etc., sufficient funds had been raised to commence building in the spring of 1973. The rector at the time was The Rev'd Gerald Peddle.

St. Michael's Altar On September 27, 1973, the old church was deconsecrated prior to an 11 a.m. service of Holy Eucharist. At this service, the new building was dedicated with The Rt. Rev'd Robert Seaborn officiating. All debts having been paid, Bishop Seaborn had the happy duty to return to St. Michael & All Angels on December 30, 1973, to officiate at the consecration of the Church.

St. Michael's is now a member of Unit Three of the Parish of the Holy Spirit. It serves 26 families and is ministered to by The Rev'd Nelson Chatman, Associate Priest; The Rev'd Myrna Vey, Deacon; and a team of licensed Lay Ministers. Service is held every second Sunday, alternating with North West Brook.

St. Michael & All Angels
