St. Michael's & All Angel's Church |
The community of Arnold's Cove was a designated growth centre of the infamous resettlement program for Placentia Bay in the 1960s. By 1970, it had become evident that the community would need a larger church. Plans for a new church building were instigated under the pastoral direction of Reverend Basil Pafford in 1971 and the cornerstone was laid in 1974. The building availed of used lumber from the Argentia Naval Base and various artifacts from churches on the Islands of Placentia Bay.
When the basement was completed, several concerts and fund raising events were held to retire the costs of building.
Highlighting these events were groups such as Ryan's Fancy, The Byrne Brothers, and other local talent.
St. Michael's was consecrated on October 19,1980.
