Back to Books
In this page I will be giving you a little bit about the story of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Hopefully from what you read you will go out and buy these wonderful books!

The Hobbit:
Is the prelude to The Lord of the Rings, and if you are going to read The Lord of the Rings you should probably read The Hobbit. In this book Gandalf the Grey(a wizard) goes to the hobbit hole of Bilbo Baggins(Hobbit and the main character) and tells him he is going on a journey to retrieve the ancient treasures of the dwarves which is guarded by a dragon named Smaug. Being a Hobbit he is very hard to persuade but Gandalf and the 13 dwarves surely did the job and Bilbo the thief went with thm on their quest to retrieve the lost gold of the dwarves. On the way Bilbo had many incouters with creatures such as trolls, spiders, elves and a creature named Gollum, which used to be a halfling but has been twisted and tormented into a miserable, deadly creature.

The Fellowship of the Ring:This is the first installment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Instead of the main character being Bilbo Baggins, it's his nephew which he adopted named Frodo Baggins. In The Hobbit Bilbo retrieves a magical ring which turns him invisible. It turns out this ring is the one ring and Gandalf sends Frodo, and his closest friends, merry, pippen and sam off to Rivendell to give the ring to the Elf lord Elrond. But when they are there them and 5 campanions (aragorn, boromir, gimli, and legolas) off t0 destroy the ring in the only place it can be destroyed, in the land of Mordor.

The Two Towers:
This is the second book in the trilogy. In the previous book, Boromir was killed, Merry and Pippin were captured, and Frodo and Sam set off to Mordor alone. Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli are trying to rescue Merry and Pippin. This book is a little bit more action packed than the first and is a great addition to any collection.

The Return of the King: This is the third installment and the dramatic conclusion of the trilogy. In this book Frodo and Sam struggle to destroy the ring, while the rest of the world has troubles of it's own because the army's of Sauron and Saruman are attacking the rest of the Middle Earth. Will Middle-Earth be safe from the horrible denizens of Sauron and Saruman? Will Sam and Frodo destroy the ring? Buy the books and find out!
