The Holly Patriarchate of Istanbul is the leading Religional Organization of the Orthodox Christians around the world.
Patriarchate is more known as ''Rum Patrikhanesi'' and located in the area of Fener, Eyup Municipality in the South West part of Istanbul. Is very close to the center of the city and it's easy to find it from the basic roads.
The Patriarchate is the oldiest Religional Foundation in Turkey from the years of the Byzantines and the Ottoman Empire. It's the only foundation who has absolutelly autonomized management by the Orthodox Church of Turkey and it's recognised worldwide as the first Orthodox religional foundation.
The history of Patriarchate is to old and after 1900 they came from the central Istanbul areas to Fener and with money of rich Greek people from the Greek Society of Istanbul they built that group of Buildings.
WHAT YOU CAN SEE:
The Holly Church of Agios Georgios, the oldiest Church of the city. Also you can find there the Patriarchate Man at the Sundays. The church includes a big number of Holly Icons with Panagia, Jesus Christ and Saints.
Also to see the Holly Boxes with Saints of the Patriarchate they where borned and died in Istanbul.
HOW WE CAN GO THERE:
From the 1st Ring Road of Istanbul from Galata Road Junction turn to the left and after the Bulgarian Church we can turn left and we can see the sign to ''Fener (Fanari)
8km from Taksim.
