Graduated from Istanbul Municipal Conservatory’s vocal section, he formed his first
choir, in 1973. He participated as soloist in many concerts within, Istanbul British
Council Madrigal Choir [1977], Istanbul Philharmonic Association Orchestra [1979],
Istanbul Dutch-Chapel Cantata Chorus [1977-90]. He followed summer courses
by Prof.SCHILHAWSKY [1982] on German Lieder in Salzburg Mozarteum Music
Academy and studied on Spanish Songs interpretation in Spain at Musica En
Compostela [1986-87] by soprano Ana HIGUERAS. He is the author of several
choral arrangements and adaptations based on famous vocal solo pieces.
In 1982 he founded the ISTANBUL CHAMBER CHOIR which is a private chamber
music ensemble with a deep enthusiasm of profound interpretation of a selected
international repertory from Middle Age, Renaissance, Classical, Romantic, and
Modern eras with a private importance for Negro Spirituals.
In 1992, he conducted Istanbul State Opera's Youth Choir. During 1991-93 he
conducted the ISTANBUL CHAMBER CHOIR under the name of Eurodialogue
Chorus in Eurodialogue Assemblies at Yerebatan Cistern and represented
Turkey with a great success. In 1994, in an associate concert, he conducted the
New Hampshire Friendship Chorus unified with Istanbul Chamber Choir. In
1994-95 he was the conductor/founder for the ÇIZAKÇA CHOIR in Bursa.
Apart from many domestic appearances in Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya and Mersin,
in Europe he performed at choral festivals of Karditsa (Greece-1994), Piteşti
(Romania-1997), Preveza (Greece-1998), and Torrevieja (Spain-1999).
In 1996 he was honored with The Music Prize of The Mevlana Supreme
Foundation ( member of World Brotherhood Union ) having supported the
World Union with the international repertory he performs. The Turkey Polyphonic
Choirs Association awarded him as The Choir Conductor for the Year 2000
considering his large activities, successes and all he did to promote choral music
in Turkey. In 2002 he owned FKD’s Yaşar P. Albukrek Music Prize.
Conducting ISTANBUL CHAMBER CHOIR, AROYO is spotted with his successful
performances and the awards for the choir such as the Cup Of 3.Prize in
Byzantine Music at the 12. International Choral Festival of Karditsa in Greece
(1994 ), the 1994 Communication Prize by the Turkish - Greek ABDI IPEKÇI
FRIENDSHIP & PEACE PRIZE COMMITTEE (Athens), and Madrigal Success
(1997 ) , Musical Performance (1998&99) and Rhythmic Success (2000) prizes
by Choir Festival of Turkey (Ankara), the Denizbank Music Prize (1999), the
Silver Medal in the 4. Preveza Choral Contest in Greece (1998 ).
His vocal and musical background has an immense impact on his successes as
a conductor. In combination of his dynamic musical character and interpretative
discipline, AROYO gained a well-known reputation among the İstanbul audiences.
