Petrof was not too far off

Umno Youth information chief Azimi Daim has unequivocally expressed his organisation's supremacist view that Malays are 'Masters of this Land' and that 'we rule this country as provided for in the constitution' (Umno Youth blasted over 'Malays are masters' statement)

This perverse and immoral position should be condemned by all right-thinking Malaysians who believe in a just, peaceful and progressive Malaysia.

The Malaysian constitution does not refer to the Malays as a 'Master Race'. With regard to 'ruling this country', it is the party which commands the majority in Parliament which rules. The Barisan Nasional is a coalition of parties which forms the majority and by virtue of this fact, rules the country.

As far as I know, Samy Vellu, Ling Liong Sik and Leo Moggie are not Malays. Indeed, our beloved prime minister's grandfather hailed from India!

Not so long ago there was a huge ruckus created when a letter written under the pseudonym of 'Petrof' had implied that Umno had views and practices similar to a certain supremist group. It would appear that Petrof was not too far off the mark, based on Azimi Daim's outrageous remarks
