Leaf squinted at the map he held in his hands, upside down as it was, he was having difficulty reading it. His dark forest green eyes scanned the squiggly lines that seemed like another language to him, and his reddish-gold fox ears were tilted in a perturbed angle, his tail twitching in annoyance. Finally he gave up and crumpled up the map, throwing it on the ground and running a hand briskly through his shoulder-length wavy reddish brown hair. His mouth set in a grim line and he turned his gaze to his companion, whose feet the map had landed at.
Willow stood at six feet even, two inches shorter than Leaf. That was the least of their differences. Willows seafoam green eyes regarded Leaf gently and steadily, the presence of that calm gaze immediately took the steam out of Leaf's sails.Willow's snow-white hair was pulled back from his pale face in a neat pony tail at the base of his neck, and his white fox's ears were tilted forwards in a relaxed position. Leaf felt his tension and frustration easing and he gave his friend a sheepish grin.
"Guess thats that. We'll have to find our way by instinct." He said, shrugging.
"Guess so." Said Willow in his soft accented voice. He wasn't one to use up words unecessarily. "The delay may be inconvenient.."
"Inconvenient!" Cried Leaf, the more tempermental of the two. "By the time we get there it will be over, and then we'll never know if there are others."
"Theres always next year. There's others. I'm sure of it." He was quietly confident, and that infuriated Leaf.
"How do you know?!" Leaf demanded, facing the other kitsune, eyes blazing.
"I just know" Replied Willow in his maddening way. "Theres more, and they're close." Leaf glared at his friend for a few more seconds, then his anger evaporated. He never stayed angry at Willow for long. That was why they were best friends. He looked at the white haired man with a raised eyebrow. Willow smiled benignly and pointed to a tall building right across the street. "There."
Leaf craned his head upwards. "LLAnon Hotel...hope they have cheap rates..."
