Sukita’s eyes shot open wide when he suddenly found himself staring back at the strange Egyptian girl he’d seen at the hotel. Ashika was it? Why was she suddenly choking him? Oddly enough, this was his first thought. Without another moment’s hesitation, both he and the other girl were in a dark …room? All he could see around him was darkness. No… it wasn’t darkness- it was nothingness. (Sorry if this sounds like Kitty’s, but Ashika’s void was first. ^^)
Ashika dropped her grip and stared at him for a moment, looking completely blank before flashing out and leaving him there alone.
Needless to say, Sukita panicked.
After a few moments, Sukita paced. After a few minutes, Sukita swallowed. After a few hours, he finally gave up and sat down, not wanting to move a step into the dark gloom that met the edge of his feet. Strange, he could see himself, as if a light was focused on just him, but nothing else. What was this place? …How could he get out?
Finding himself trapped with nothing to do made a person think- something that was quite foreign to him.
Yoku-chan came first in his thoughts. Relita, Ruu and Yuki soon followed. People that meant the world to him but weren’t around much lately.
He never saw his wife anymore and he missed her terribly. His sister was usually absent, but when she was here, she was always mad at him. He loved her so much, but she’d changed since coming back. She wasn’t the little girl that clung onto his neck anymore. She was a young lady; full of troubles that ‘big brother’ couldn’t help her with anymore. Hell, she wouldn’t even let him try and help.
Yuki… he’d thought that perhaps he could start over with her. Wherever he had failed ‘Lita, he’d be sure to get right with his new little sister. He’d protect her, help her, and show her more love. Perhaps that’s why Lita was so angry all the time. Perhaps he hadn’t shown her enough love. Sure, their mom wasn’t nice and caring, but he liked to think that he was enough for his sister. She still left you, Sukita, his mind reminded him.
Then there was Ruu. His best friend in the whole world and he didn’t even want to see her anymore. He knew it was selfish, but he couldn’t help it. When she’d first come in hurt, he’d cried and felt so lost. She’d almost died… Sukita couldn’t even imagine what he’d do if she died. It hurt him to think about, so he stopped thinking it. He hadn’t visited her since that first time… since she’d cried on him and left him out in the cold.
"Where were you this time?"
Ruu’s words echoed in his mind. He felt like shit. Where had he been? He hadn’t been there for her when she needed him. He’s always been by her side, had always been there for support and comfort, yet the one time that he wasn’t… she… Again, Sukita had to force himself to stop thinking- not too hard for him.
He was there for them- all of them. But did they need him now? Yoku… he thanked all that was good that she had picked him for whatever reason. But could she live without him? Of course- she was a tough broad. That’s why he’d first liked her. She could take care of herself.
Yuki was just a small child, but unlike his childhood, she had loving parents, another big brother- Tawnee, and her boyfriend to watch over her. She was okay without him, too.
‘Lita… He wanted so much to be a part her life again, but couldn’t do much when she was constantly pushing him away. She hated his wife and because of the marriage, seemed to hate him now, too. Anything he said to refute her only made him "like mom" in her eyes and that’s the last thing he wanted. If she didn’t want him in her life, then he wouldn’t be in her life.
Ruu… Sukita winced again. He thought that perhaps she was taken care of. She had Harlequin, after all, and her new brainy and better friends. Ko-wassisface or something were her neeeeew friends. Sukita repressed a small fume. His anger quickly turned to sadness. He missed her, but didn’t want to be accused by her again. He felt guilty on his own for not being there for her, he didn’t need to hear more.
Selfish, selfish, selfish… he thought. He knew that, but hey… he was selfish. And she was better off without him if he was that self-absorbed.
Nodding at his thoughts, Sukita brought his knees up and sighed. He was tired. He was tired of being here in this …nothingness. He was tired of being. A vacation sounded nice. A nap sounded nice. Hell, he’d take a coma at this point. Perhaps Ashika had done him a favor. Perhaps he could rest here. Let his mind slow down a bit. Nodding again, he curled up, shut his eyes and prepared to sleep.
