~Ruu’s Second Tail~

OOC Ruu: Now I have TWO tails???

*~*~*~*~*~*

Ruu took in a rather large and sharp breath, holding her arms across her stomach tightly. It all made sense now. The looks she got from people, the feelings. The pity they had toward her. It came together in her mind as she walked toward Harlequin’s room.

Raped… It didn’t seem real. She couldn’t remember it, so it seemed wrong in her mind for it to be real. Ko had finally come out with it. No more beating around the bush, she’d wanted to know what he was talking about. Boy, did she regret that. Ignorance is bliss, right? She screamed at herself for all those stupid things, for her curiosity, for her foolishness.

A million thoughts raced through her mind with every step up the stairs. Her hand moved across the railing slowly, dragging behind her heavily. Everything about her felt heavy suddenly. Her whole body matched the lump that had formed in her stomach days ago.

Raped… the word wouldn’t stop echoing. Was it her fate to be raped? Two times in two years was pretty incredible when you thought about it.

Ruu blinked at the tears in her eyes and reached her floor. How much her bed sounded appealing right now. But she needed to see Harlequin. She had to know if he knew- if they all knew. Her chess partner had told her it had been approximately a month. Gossip travels fast, especially at LLAnon. There was no way he couldn’t know, and she knew that. But the fact wouldn’t leave her alone. She needed to see him, confirm it.

Not looking where she was going, a voice spoke out in front of her and the girl raised her blue eyes to the shadow in front of her. She recognized the girl before her as Echo and moved to the right, trying to get around her.

Echo watched her go, sadly, saying nothing.

Ruu winced and turned around to face the blond girl, foot poised over the stair. There it was again. Pity. How Ruu loathed that feeling. After lechery, pity was the worst sensation Ruu could pick up. Trembling, she faced Echo fully and noted something aside from pity in her expression. Echo felt… understanding. But that didn’t cover it all.

"What?" Ruu asked, slightly more bitter than normal.

The other girl’s eyes widened and she shook her head quickly, stammering, "Nothing. I’m sorry. It’s nothing."

Ruu narrowed her eyes and concentrated more on the secondary emotion. She never actually tried to use her empathy, but she needed to right now. Searching the girl’s face, Ruu’s eyes widened slightly. "You…"

Echo’s eyes widened at what sounded like an accusation thrown at her. "What? …What did I do?"

"You, too?" Ruu came back, softly this time.

Echo swallowed and stood there dumbfounded. She wasn’t sure if she was still supposed to be quiet about Ruu’s happenings yet. "Me too what…?"

"You were …as well?" purposefully leaving out the word, unable to say it, however many times it was playing in her head.

"I’m sure I don’t know what you’re talking about," Echo replied softly, not able to look into Ruu’s eyes; her lies were clearly shown in her demeanor.

Nearly crying again, Ruu raised her voice, "Don’t lie to me!" She watched as the other one winced and brought her hands to her mouth. "I know you’re lying. When were you attacked and who did it?"

Echo bit her lip, not wanting to think of it, but not wanting to be yelled at again. "A little bit…. After you…" she replied quietly.

Ruu’s body shook. Another confirmation given. Another person who knew. Still, she persisted. "Who?"

Echo remained quiet for a moment. "The same as you," lowering her eyes as she spoke. "’Maldoin’ was his name. He said not to forget it." Shifting, she grabbed her hands and didn’t know what to do to help.

Ruu memorized the name and tried to control her breathing. "Is he still here? What’s he look like? Was he punished at all?" she nearly screamed.

Echo grasped the railing tightly and told Ruu all she could, including personality; physical and magical attributes and where she’d last seem him. Looking sad, she told of her savior Utsa who had hurt him a bit when they’d fought and had been hurt herself.

Ruu took in all the information carefully, studying it, learning it and making it appoint to use it later on. Muttering a thank you, and turning again, she left Echo standing there, saying nothing as she went upstairs. She’d find the bastard that did this to her and make him pay. She swore it.
