~Quine’s Hunt~

Quine sighed in his little hole in space. He thought that perhaps he should go looking for those victims. Vale and Yuki had offered him some nice gifts, after all. And besides, he was bored. What else could he do? Nothing. So, taking no time to phase in and out of multiple points in time simultaneously, he started his search.

Inomi was first, merely because he knew her better than the others. Well, no… he knew the other girl, but she didn’t like him. Just because he’d made fun of one little cake, she hated him. So he’d just wait on her. And Sukita? He didn’t know the boy at all, so thought he could wait, too.

It didn’t take him long to find the spirit of the hysterical one. It was very strong for such a young girl. One thing troubled him, though… He couldn’t phase beside her. He could sense her, but couldn’t pinpoint her exact location. Very strange… Rather, he focused on another energy source that seemed to be binding the girl’s.

Phasing in beside that origin, he found himself staring at a rather old man sipping some strange drink.

The elderly gentleman sat in a long, silk jacket, trimmed in blacks and grays, speaking to Quine without ever looking up. "And who might you be?"

Quine instantly took on the role he had played with Yuki, not caring at all if the other man had a sense of humor to go with it or not. Striking a heroic pose, he spoke loudly, "I… am the prince Quine! Here to rescue the damsels in distress! …And the boy!"

The man was clearly not amused. "If you’re done with the theatrics, I’d like you to get out of my study please."

Quine scoffed. "Not until I win over the fair maidens…And the boy." Again, he struck a pose.

With a quick snap of his fingers, Ashika appeared beside Quine and looked at him expressionless.

Quine knew her… what was she doing here? Hmm. Perhaps he should have been paying more attention instead of making cardboard cut outs of Madame Miko in her swimsuit. Clearing those thoughts from his mind, he spoke more seriously. "If you will, I really do need them."

Mr. Dufrain raised an eyebrow. "And I don’t?"

Quine didn’t have an answer for that. "Maybe so… but I need them more," he said almost childishly. "’Sides, I can just take them and you can get new subjects."

"I don’t want new subjects, I’m very content with these ones, thank you." The tone in geezer’s voice was harsh. He was clearly annoyed at Quine’s presence.

Ashika, noting his displeasure, moved forward to deal with the man before her.

Quine backed away, but really wasn’t afraid of her. He was god after all. He could tell, though, that he wouldn’t be able to find the three missing people till he dealt with these two. Then again, when did he get fun like this normally? This could be fun… he’d play with them a little.

Mr. Dufrain leaned back in his chair and motioned for Ashika to do her thing.

Ashika, not having a single ounce of herself in her at this point, obeyed his every thought and sent a wave of force at Quine, succeeding in knocking him back by his own choice.

Quine yawned and threw some things at her, knowing they’d have no effect, but wanting Mr. Dufrain to get his entertainment. At one point, he threw another blast a few feet above the old man to get his attention. Frowning when it barely worked, he was shot with another figment of the two mind’s imagination. This was already getting boring. Why’d he think it would be fun to begin with? He could be staring at the busty frame that was his Madame. Mentally yanking at Ashika’s spirit, he went to take her away into himself but found she only screamed in every aspect, her whole soul ripping in one fluid motion with his.

Oops. He hadn’t meant to do that… He watched as she vanished both physically and …well, she vanished period. He’d have to worry about that later… right now, he had to deal with his mission.

Poofing beside the wide-eyed old man, he bent down and kissed the man’s cheek, holding his face like a baby. "Now… bring the others-" Before he could finish, however, all three of rescuees were brought to the center of the room, doing whatever they were doing in their little isolated places.

That was easier than he thought. Glancing at them and before they could say or do anything, he poofed them back to the lobby of LLAnon, watching Mr. Dufrain stare out blankly. . . .

Quine tilted his head and picked up the man, noting his lack of response and threw him over his shoulder, taking both of them to the hotel as well.
