Echo smiled in her sleep and snuggled closer to the warmth of the man beside her. Her dreams were pleasant and full of rich details of memories she wouldn’t have the chance to remember while awake. Laughter rang in her mind and a sense of love and peace filled her as never before.
"Get back here, you."
In her dream, she turned her head to face the voice and smiled at seeing his beautiful image. His long auburn hair brushed forward in front of his face and his grin held for her a secret look. Oh how she loved him. Trying not to grin back, she shook her head and turned away from him indignantly, intending on finishing her patchwork. She knew the job was long in coming and shut her eyes happily when she felt his strong, yet tender arms wrap around her from behind.
"Really, Lucius… work must be finished before one can play," she replied, grinning and moving her head back against his chest.
The man brought his head forward and set his face against her neck, planting a small kiss on her creamy skin. He made a small noise of disagreement but said nothing, opting to nuzzle below her ear gently.
Sighing and setting her work down, she brought a hand up and held his cheek, bringing her face around to smile softly at him. She couldn’t refuse him anything, it seemed, as he always knew just what to do to get what he wanted. The girl blinked her green eyes open slowly and stroked his cheek, feeling the warmth rise in her as his fingers caressed her stomach gently. She thought about their child growing in her womb and felt a nervous pang of anxiety hit her again.
"Everything will be fine," he reassured her, speaking soothingly into her ear.
She knew he was just as nervous about it, but hearing him speak it so calmly always calmed her as well. She nodded against him, causing her blond hair to slip and fall in her face slightly. The girl sighed contentedly and put her other hand on his arm around her. "I love you," she whispered, meaning it with all her heart.
"And I love you, Christine."
Echo’s eyes shot open as she woke up at that. The words echoed through her mind, even as the rest of her dream was already beginning to fade. Love you, Christine, love you, Christine… She glanced at the man next to her and searched his face, feeling all her feelings mixing together. She didn’t know what to think. Something was so familiar about him… Her thoughts stopped abruptly as she realized something. She was in bed with a man. Her eyes went wide with shock at herself. Here she was, curled up against him as if it was the most casual thing in the world. Her face took on many shades of crimson. If her parents found out they would… Echo groaned and tried to remain still, not wanting to wake him and trying to steady her heart. After a moment, she relaxed and remembered that she did this to help him. Hopefully her presence had helped him sleep better this time. With this notion, being played repeatedly in her mind, she was finally able to close her eyes again and rest.
