Maccabi Tel Aviv is the best team in Israel ever. Their history says that they took the championship 18 times and the Israeli cup 18 times.

But the resent years were terrible times for the big club, Although Maccabi Tel Aviv took 2 Israeli cups in the last 2 years. Two years ago they beat Maccabi Petach-Tikva 3-0. And last year they won the cup after a thriller match against Maccabi Haifa the Champions, Tel Aviv went to take the trophy after penalty kicks.
All times Maccabi had great players. Avi Cohen was one of the greatest players ever, he played at FC Liverpool for some time. Boni Ginzborg the goalkeeper is also one of the players that Maccabi Tel Aviv give to the Israeli football. Anther historic player is Giora Shpigel who years latter as a Manager took Maccabi Haifa to Championship against his former team.
Maccabi Tel Aviv's last season will be remembered because of a horrible situation of Meni Levi. Former Maccabi Tel Aviv's player collapsed in middle of a game and still is in a coma at the hospital. Since then, Maccabi also got in a coma and still didn’t recover from it, like Meni. Many fans are still going to his room to bless him, and we are waiting for him to wake up.
One of the biggest stars of Maccabi Tel Aviv is still in the team, Avi Nimni. Nimni is the best player in “Ligat-Al”. He is great scorer and a great midfielder also. He is all around player. Nimni also played some period at Athletico Madrid from Spain and Derby County from England.

Liran Shtrauber is the goalkeeper in Nir Klinger’s team. Shtrauber grow up in Hapoel Tel Aviv one of the biggest enemies of Maccabi Tel Aviv. Ami Rozenberg is the second keeper in the team.
At the defense there are some great names. Tal Ben Haim that played very good last year after Bromer was injured is still the first choice in the middle of the defense. With him plays Avi Strul that have the same story like Tal, this season it seems like Strul will play as Right Back. Gadi Bromer that was injured a lot last season now may be back to be the same Bromer we all love. Gadi was once the best center back in Israel but an injury stopped him. Even Manchester United wanted him and took him for week as a trial. Now he is also back to Israel international after great form. In the left side of defense Dedi Ben-Dayan plays. Dedi plays so well that he become one of the national team players. But last year Dedi gain some weight and become very slow, so Maccabi brought Mauricio Fernando Aros the former Chilean international. This year we are going to see more of Salam Abu Siam the youngster that usually play in right as a defender. Koby Mosa is another young player that will get a lot of minutes in maccabi's defense. Another defenders in Maccabi's squad is Danny Mishan and Itay Tuaf the sweepers.
At midfield Maccabi Tel Aviv has great players like Tal Banin former Israel national team captain. Banin has history in Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Haifa and of course 1 year at Cannes in France and 3 years at Brescia in Italy. Banin plays defensive midfielder like his soul mate, Oren Ziytuni. Ziytuni came to Maccabi Tel Aviv from Hapoel Haifa where he took the championship. He also plays in the Israeli national team, but last year Oren was injured and missed almost all season. This year also started bad for him after another injury and now he is sideline for couple of months. After Ziytuni's injury Maccabi signed a new Brazilian at defensive midfield, Bruno Reyes. Eyel Shean the youngster is the backup for Banin and Ziytuni. Maccabi also has Gal Filan as a substitute. At the attacking midfield side Maccabi Tel Aviv has the best of the best. Avi Nimni of course is the best Israeli player in the Israeli league. Nimni is the engine of Maccabi, every attacking situation involves Nimni in it. Nimni played at Atletico Madrid but didn’t fit well there because he is too slow. Baroch Dego is Maccabi’s young star. Dagu plays at left side in the attacking midfield but can also play in the middle. Dagu age 21, almost played at Nantes in France, but the Israeli army stopped his progress. At the right side plays Eli Biton other great youngster. Biton is only 20 years old and Roda the Dutch side wants him. Biton is not a good scorer but has fantastic pace and speed, recently he was called to the Israeli national team. Rodrigo Goldberg the Chilean is the man to mark. The all around player is really great player. Goldberg can play as striker and also in the left or right attacking midfield. The new shining star of Maccabi Tel Aviv is Reoven "the spider" Oved. The attacking midfielder really gave Maccabi a great push at the end of last year and now everybody in Maccabi looks at him as the new savior. Dodo Avraham and Koby Abadayev are new names we ought to remember at Maccabi's midfield.
Dip inside the attack plays one of the two, Anders Prohanenkovas the Latvian and Amir Turgenman the Israeli. Prohanenkovas is high striker who scores with his head a lot. The Latvian recently transferred to Maccabi Tel Aviv from Maccabi Kiriat Gat after a very successful year for him. Amir can find the net with his speediness. Of course Goldberg can play as striker also and Eli Biton played as striker as well. Amir can also play in attacking midfield at right or left.

Maccabi already started this season very well after beating Talin 2-0 two times. Now they face big matches against Boavista in the first round of the UEFA cup. Maccabi Tel Aviv looks very good this season and they want to be Champions after a long time. Nir Klinger's team won't be satisfied with another Israeli cup like the last two seasons.

Expectations: Champions and Israeli cup, UEFA cup 3^rd round.
Reality: 1-3 place, 1^st round in UEFA cup and maybe Israeli cup again.
Player to watch: Reoven "the spider" Oved soon a player that will play in Israeli national team.
Possible starting 11: Liran "the clown" Shtrauber; Avi Strol, Gadi Bromer, Tal Ben Haim, Mauricio Fernando Aros; Tal "the fish" Banin, Bruno Reyes, Eli Biton, Avi "the turtle" Nimni, Reoven "the spider" Oved (Rodrigo Goldberg); Andres Prohanenkovas.
