Youth Team

12.09.2002,
It seems like Ashdod is the best place to hang around these days. Ashdod becomes a big force in the Israeli football nowadays. First of all they have fantastic youth team in their club and secondly not like the big teams the youth goes to the first team and play.

Alon Hazan, the father of the team

Ashdod will always be remembered for players who grow up here. Haim Revivo is the most famous star that ever played in Ashdod. Revivo is now the star of Fenerbache. Alon Hazan also grew up here. Ofer Talker, Baroh Dego and Jan Talsnikov are another players that made an impact on the Israeli football and played in Ashdod. Few years ago there where 2 Ashdodian teams, Hapoel and Maccabi but both teams unite to one. First the mix didn’t go so well but after a period it went good, so now Ashdod really looks good.
Last year Ashdod played wonderful and took the 4th place. Elisha Levi is the coach of the team in blue. He was the man who made history with Beit Shean. Beit Shean was a team that always played at low divisions but when he came he brought them to the first division and won some heroic games there.

In Levi's (no, not the Jeans) goal he will put Mr. Yaniv Ben Ishay although he has a big the youngster became the first goal after great season last year. Shei Hes (mean silence in Hebrew) is the backup goalkeeper and as former Hapoel Petach Tikva goalkeeper he might take the first pullover. Yoni Robin will be the 3rd goalkeeper on the squad.
The defense looks very unsettled after big teams with a lot of money took the flowers of defense. But still Ashdod brought foreign to fill the hole. Blagoya Milevski is the main man. With him Sharon Amar need to raise his game. Amir Elkarif will be responsible for the right side of defense. Elkarif is one of the new names that are marked by the big clubs. Adir Tobol will be the man who plays at left side of defense. Tobol has to be more affective in the offensive to be better left back. Hanan Peretz may become a new member of the starting 11 if there will be injuries at the back. Ben Elmaliech is also a backup player for injuries.
The midfield of the Jeans looks like the best place to spark. First of all we can find Alon Hazan. I really the Israeli that played almost all his years in Maccabi Haifa, of course he was always a member of the Israeli national squad. Hazan also had an affair with Europe with Watford where he rise from the second division to the Premiership. Now in his 30is Hazan took charge of Ashdod's youth player and as the results say he is doing a good job. Of course he also does a good job on the soccer field. Near Levi bought Ishtevan Pishont from Hapoel Tel Aviv. Pishont is a very experienced player who might help a lot. Yossi Ofir and David Revivo might be starting near Hazan and Pishont. While Yair Azolay, Moshe Ohayon and Oshri Alfasi the 3 talented youngsters will be coming of the bench. In the striking position we find some good names. Both Robert Regbar and Gabor Boyar would be expecting to score as more goals as possible. Hanan Fadida had great minutes last year and now he need to step up more. Yaniv Azran is the new talent in the squad, he is only 19 years old and almost played at Ajax youth team.
So with this young but talented squad Elish Levi need to deliver something bigger then successful 4th place like last year. Can he bring more then 4th place, maybe cup?

Expectations: 2-4th place may be nice with Israeli cup or even toto cup.
Reality: 5-8 place, no Israeli cup but maybe toto cup.
Player to watch: Yaniv Azran- the young player has to be on the spotlights after some injuries. Now that Kobika left he might get more minutes in Levi's team.
Possible starting 11: Yaniv Ben Ishay; Amir Elkarif, Blagoya Milevski, Sharon Amar, Andrea Balaic; Alon Hazan, Ishtevan Pishont, Yossi Ofir, David Revivo; Robert Regbar, Gabor Boyar.

DiD u Know: in 1995 Amir Torgeman was a golden boot winner with Ashdod team although they were went down to the second division that year.
