To Spill Attar
by Amir Ragporker

12.09.2002,
Recently Mordehai Shpigler was chosen as the best soccer player in Israel at the last century. The great goal scorer spent his all years in Maccabi Natanya. But it seems like no player in this squad come near his quality.

Zili and Gili. Landau seek for ?

Maccabi Natanya seems to be a good side this season in spite of the fact that Itzhak Zoher left the club last year. But the sun is shining because Natanya brought a new star Reuven Atar from Maccabi Haifa. Last year Natanya finished at the 7th place after a lot of ups and downs. This year the new coach Gili Landau hopes that his team won't struggle to maintain the straight line up. Landau came this year from Kiriat Gat where he was very successful despite dropping to the second division.

Martin Peshko will be Landau's first goalkeeper. Peshko is a good goalkeeper that had some nice days last year. The second goalkeeper is Guy Salomon that came from Maccabi Hertzelia. The 3rd goalkeeper in the squad is Doron Lahmish.
Amir Shelach controls the center of defense. Shelach who came from Maccabi Tel Aviv is a former Israeli international. Adrian Geman is the man with him in the middle of defense. Ilan Boaron is the left defender and Lior Genish will be in charge of the other side. Ori Ozan is a good player that can play in center of defense or at defensive midfield. Asi Vsihon and Lior Landitzki will be good substitutions.
At midfield we find some very familiar names like Reuven Atar and Gay Tzarfati. So it appears to be the best part in Gili's team. Gay Tzarfati plays at defensive midfield and has a lot of qualities. The former Maccabi Tel Aviv player was the caption of Israel under 23. He will be an international soon. Ravid Gazal claims to be the most forted player in the squad. Gazal is only 20 and already is marked by some big clubs in Israel. Israel Zviti is another good player and also Ran Kojok has a look to give but it seems like they all be on the bench due to Reuven Atar's transfer into the club. I hope to see more of Kfir Tzokol this year because everyone says he has so much talent. Darios Matzolvitsios is the foreign in the midfield. Shlomi Dehan swing in the team, one day he is in and one day he is out. Tomer Tayar and Avi Alfasi will complete the midfielders.
In the offence we can't seem to find great names. Natanya hopes that Talas Shot the Brazilian from Paranse may take the lead. Another good yet mysterious player is Liron Vilner. Roslan Lobarski might make his affect this year after not very good year in the club. Last but not least is Tzahi Iloz.

Gili Landau knows that he has to make some things with this team because he has some nice players in his hand. It sound like Landau's midfield look the best location of the team, but it seems like no one in the midfield knows where this location is (if you know what I mean). The offence needs to have more quality players because no one can score (Lobarski? Vilner? You got to be kidding me, they didn’t score 5 goals last year). The defense looks nice although I see Amir Shelach doing some horrible mistakes.

Expectations: 3-5th spot in the league, win the cup and toto cup as well.
Reality: 7th place and will be out of the cup in the second or 3rd round. Maybe the toto cup will go to Natanya. I believe that Landau will stay as far as day 20 or less.
Player to watch: Liron Vilner: once someone marked him as the next Shpigler, now everyone mark him as another unrealized talent at Maccabi Natanya. It looks like this season is the last chance for him to be bigger then just unrealized talented player.
Possible starting 11: Martin Peshko; Lior Genish, Amir Shelach, Adrian Geman, Ilan Boaron; Ori Ozan, Ravid Gazal, Gay Tzarfati, Darios Matzolvitsios, Reuven Atar; Liron Vilner.

DiD u Know: Maccabi Natanya didn’t took only one trophy in the Israeli football, The Toto cup. Can they take it this year?
