Goodbye Hapoel
by Amir Ragporker

17.11.2002,
My, oh my, what a first half we saw in the game of the season. Maccabi Haifa came to Blomfield to meet Hapoel Tel Aviv and we witnessed a dramatic game.

Abukisis can't believe Hapoel lost to Haifa.

3 goals, 3 red cards and 6 points lead this is what happened in the game. Hapoel Tel Aviv also got their first loss in the league while Haifa seems to be unstoppable. Hapoel Tel Aviv know that a if they lost the game they would be 6 points behind the Champions but they lost and now we can't seem to find the break.

Maccabi Haifa started well and got the advantage after Yaniv Katan scored in the 8th minute. It came after Yakobo headed the ball down and Katan came off back and with a half volley scored from 7 meters.
2 minutes later both team were with only 10 players. Balili fouled Awate aggressively and Benado went thought Balili to hit him, both players got red cards.
8 minutes later, Yakobo was brought down in the box by Dumb when he ran to score, Dumb got red card and Hapoel Tel Aviv were only with 9 players, Haifa got a penalty that Yakobo scored it from the spot, 2-0. Can Hapoel Tel Aviv make a comeback with only 9 players?
Ben Loz thought so and hammered the shrivel goal for Hapoel after a nice strike from 16 meters.

In the 34th minute Yakobo passed back to Praljia that come from back and shot a strong ball but it went near the bar.
Hapoel could equalize in the 41st minute when Abuksis found Knafo free against Awate, but the young inexperienced striker failed to score.
Hapoel Tel Aviv controlled the game until the end but couldn’t make a mark in the game. Haifa almost scored the 3rd when Ruso smashed the ball to the bar.
At the end Haifa hugged like the won the Championship. It really seems like no one can stop Shom's team that said: "It was one of our weakest game this season. We played good 18 minutes and then for some reason we stopped playing. We are in a hard era, it is hard to be good every 3 days. There are some days weak days that it is important to win in these days."
The coach of Hapoel Tel Aviv said: "Although we played with only 9 players we were better then Haifa. We could see tonight a great team that her name is Hapoel Tel Aviv. I salute my players."
