Wanna be A Star
by Amir Ragporker

12.9.2002,
The time was between 74-76 Hapoel Beer Sheva was in heaven. 2 Championships in a row brought the shiny town success that only few ones got. They were at the edge of the world, no one could stop them.

Elianiv Barda fall, he hope not to fall at the end of this season

Now it seems so far that the heart is broken. Capital City of the Negeve like all the small teams in Israel look like a team that doesn't have a lot of goals this year. They will be satisfied with 6-8 place or more. Remember that only last year Hapoel got to this Ligat-Al from the second division. Even Lofa Kadosh the coach of this sympathetic team knows that the expectations are not that big.
Over the year Hapoel Beer Sheva gave the Israeli football some great name that will long be remembered. Shalom Avitan, Meir Barad and Haim Barda will always be remember in Beer Sheva but the recent stars that came from this team are Giovani Ruso and Yossi Benayoun of course. Ruso was the last man who brought Beer Sheva their last trophy with a goal in the 1997 Israeli cup final.
Lofa Kadosh has a nice team with some young players. Elianiv Barda seems to be the most talented player on the squad. But some good players like Yaniv Abarjil and Kfir Adri left the team.

In the goalie we are going to see Asi Rahamim the veteran. On the bench we will mark Mordehai Shvartz that came from Hapoel Dimona.
The defense force looks nice but need to get better. The best name I can spot in it is Shoki Nagar. The left winger came to Beer Sheva after some good years at Maccabi Haifa. Soon we might find he wearing the national shirt. Yaniv Elol and Dajan Mdonovic will be in charge of center defense in Beer Sheva. In the right we might spot Rami Eliyaho the 25 years old. Tomer Haliba will be Nagar replacement. Eyal Abed and Oz Efrah both 20 years old will seek for minutes.
In the midfield we will find some key players for Beer Sheva's success. Since Devi Korman the Belgian left Beer Sheva they seek for a good replacement. Eventually they found Alex Bono the Frenchman who might be the steal of the year. Bono is former Q.P.R and Watford player (both teams from England). Rami Abu Laben the man with the booms in his legs is a very effective player. Abu Laben has very strong shot but he also is a great defensive midfield. Stav Elimelh is the unquestioned leader of the team. He is 33 years old and never played elsewhere then Hapoel Beer Sheva. Tomer Tadesa is a good player but always sits on the bench. This should be Elad Bonfeld's year. The new Eyal Berkovic need to be more involved in the team and take some leadership. Ramig Izarski is a new Polish foreign at the team, still question mark is on his curly head. Gilad Benayoon brother of will be in the squad but will not see minutes.
In the attack we can find nice several players. The best is Elianiv Barda of course. He is marked as the new raising star of Israeli football at 21 years old. Oren Sagron is another good player that usually plays at one of the sides. Ofir Haim stayed at the team after he wanted to leave. Haim is a nice striker who came from Maccabi Tel Aviv few years ago. Blesing Kako and Andri Taholski will be the foreigns at the striking force but it seems like they will find themselves on the bench really soon. Amir Abotbol will pray to god to play this year.

It looks like Kadosh need urgently some defenders because his defense seems to be very poor. I think Kadosh has to strengthen his defense. His offence doesn't need any players but his midfield need to have more players for backup.
Kadosh is 62 years old and didn’t gain any trophy, can he make history with this team, this year? People say it is written in the stars.

Expectations: 2-4th place may be nice with Israeli cup or even toto cup.
Reality: 5-8 place, no Israeli cup but maybe toto cup.
Player to watch: Elianiv Barda- good player that have to be more then good. O.K. we all know who is Barda but now he need to step up and be better. This year he is almost the only star at the team so we will se if he is the new plop or not.
Possible starting 11: Asi Rahamim; Rami Eliyaho, Dajan Mdonovic, Yaniv Elol, Shoki Nagar; Rami Abu Laben, Stav Elimelh, Alex Bono, Elad Bonfeld, Ramig Izarski; Elianiv Barda.

DiD u Know: Giovani Ruso's carrier in Israel started at Hapoel Beer Sheva. In his first year he brought the only cup to Beer Sheva.
