Jewish Learning
The Jewish learning requirement aspect of this job is one of the elements that makes this entry-level job stand out from others. This opportunity for you to grow, develop, and learn is a great way to educate yourself, connect with other people interested in similar subjects, and learn more about the greater Gainesville Jewish community resources.

There was a program that is called Study Torah, which connects Jewish students together from around the country and has them learn about a specific Jewish topic over the phone. I liked this idea, however, I didn't like that I was being paired with a random Orthodox person. So essentially what I did was to create a similar program of my own with a University of Judaism student in Los Angeles that I already knew. I hoped that this learning would strengthen the bond of our friendship as well a further increase both of our Jewish knowledge bases. And this indeed, was exactly the result. We used Rabbi Shlomo Artson's book,
The Bedside Torah, to discuss in depth the weekly parshat (portion) and to engage in some deeper questions. I also frequently used the website, www.myjewishlearning.com to further enhance our discussions. This was a fantastic learning experience and one that I would definately do again.
