ISPF/ftp is the showcase software product of Cross Computer Systems. This Java-based FTP client program simulates an IBM mainframe ISPF environment to communicate with any FTP server. The server can be a local or remote MVS host, or an FTP server on any host accessible via the internet. This facility enables programmers familiar with IBM's ISPF environment to access data on any system (with an FTP server running), even if that system is not MVS. With the recent trend toward downsizing, many programmers are being retrained to utilize Unix systems. Rather than learn the intricacies of cryptic Unix commands, ISPF/ftp can be a familiar environment for them to browse, edit, create, rename and delete files. When used on an MVS system, ISPF/ftp can be used to submit jobs to MVS for execution, and also to retrieve and view job output. Please note: the beta test version of ISPF/ftp is available for downloading. As with any beta software, use caution in using ISPF/ftp on any valuable data. Wanted: Information leading to the acquisition of a Test MVS FTP server! We lost our MVS testing ability recently, and are looking for an online site willing to allow us to test access to an MVS FTP server from ISPF/ftp.
