A Promise.
This was the fifth time in the past two full moons that she was sick again. Sickness, the elders said, was a way that the body warned of events fore coming. Unfortunate events.
Eve didnt buy it though. She often disagreed with what they said. Perhaps that was why they baptized her the heretic, of sorts... that she refused to stand passively by and let her lover slip away from her because "fate" deemed it.
The sky was dark, as usual, the moon had long since hidden her face from the heavens. Nothing stirred in the suffocating blackness; neither animals nor people... everything was dead. Eve sighed. She wondered if Lilith slept tonight or if she found herself restless in this still night.
"I dont sleep, my Star,..." she whispered, "...not tonight."
Eve stared. Lilith had grown so weak. Even though the sickness raged on in her body, she lost nothing of her beauty - - like the Goddess Herself. And how many times had Eve called her that? How many times, lost in the passion of her touch, had she felt herself taken away to sacred places that only a goddess could know? She was indeed a goddess, Eve thought. Even now.
Lilith extended her hand and brushed it through Eves hair.
"You should be sleeping, my Love,.." Eve walked towards her, "youre in no shape to be wandering about."
For a minute it looked as if Lilith might collapse, the colour suddenly draining from her delicate face. Eve gently wrapped her arms around her. "Come on... lets get you back to bed."
Suddenly, with more strength than Eve had seen in months, Lilith broke free to face her. Her pure resolve sent Eve into a quiet desire that seemed to consume her, entirely.
"No... Theres something important I need to... to tell you." Her voice wavered for just a minute.
Eve raised a single finger to Liliths mouth, tracing the outline of those sweet lips that shed lost herself in, so many times.
"Shhhh... my Goddess in the flesh," her hands glided tenderly over her soft body. "...there will be time to talk later - - but for now,.. no more talk... "
And Eve kissed her then, under the moonless sky. Kissed her again and again. Starting with those pure lips and working her way down the base of her neck, between her breasts and down the length of her body. Her fingers slid her nightdress off of one arm, letting her tongue follow the curve of Liliths shoulder and neck. She kissed her harder, feeling the passion slowly take over. The other side of the gown came off then, and with an even pull, she had removed it completely. Feverishly, Eve continued kissing Lilith... her lips, neck and between the breasts again - - but this time, her tongue found her nipples and she suckled there, letting them get rigid with desire.
Between the soft moaning, Lilith led Eve to the ground - - the bare earth beneath her - - and offered herself willingly.
Eve removed her own gown then - - and rubbed her body against Liliths. Skin on skin.
She traced the outlines of her body with her tongue - - every inch; memorizing every curve. Her gentle waist... her beautiful legs... and finally, in a final act of worship Eve found her heaven between Liliths thighs.
Her tongue danced in circles between those hidden lips until they were moist. Her body trembled, aching for release. Eve could feel her body arch under her touch. She continued to consume her... to take her over... bringing Lilith close to that pinnacle of desire, but never giving in...
"Eve... please..." her voice was barely a whisper, but that gentle command was all Eve needed.
Her pace quickened and her hands fondled those beautiful breasts until Lilith was thrown into the heights of passion. Her body shuddered and those beautiful moans filled the night air until she collapsed, her body spent...
Eve and Lilith lay tangled together, flesh on flesh. They were one. She couldve stayed like that forever.
"Lilith..." Eve sighed, "I know that youve gotten the Calling.. ."
Lilith looked startled for a moment. Startled and suddenly very scared.
"You did?" She pulled her robe back on. Eve only nodded to the question.
"You said you needed to tell me something... but you dont. I know already. I know that it wont be long." Eves voice trembled with unshed tears, "You know how you call me your Star?"
Lilith only nodded.
"Well, I never knew what a star was... so, in a final act of magick with you, look..." Eve pointed to a small point of light with shimmered in the dark sky. "I created a star to symbolize our love. Its a promise that I will love you forever -- in every lifetime. And should we ever doubt it, we only have to look to the heavens. Each time we find each other, another star will form Lilith. . ." Eve was crying now, she could feel the pain in her heart swelling, "but I wanted you to know, that nothing, not even death will separate us."
Lilith embraced her - - staring at that beautiful promise. "Ill find you again, Eve. I may have a different name or look like someone else - - but our souls will remember. There will be many more stars in the sky."
With that, Eve and Lilith walked back to the village and slept. When Lilith didnt wake that morning, Eve remembered the promise, and although her heart was breaking, she knew that it was only the beginning.
And every night Eve prayed on that single star. She prayed for Lilith. For the eternity of love. To find it again with her in another lifetime. And she knew she would.
After all, a promise is forever.
