Unanswered Prayer

the tears fell,
like rain
on my skin
- kept falling -
washed clean
my dirt,
taken in.

Forever, this place
an irreversible token
inversed and tossed out
the mirror, still broken.

You can't mend the wings
that were never there
Can't be the savior
to an unspoken prayer.

So don't follow,
don't lead,
you aren't the answer
to all that I need.

My feet can't follow
the life that you hone,
and the stories shall stay,
forever carved to the bone.

When you walk past,
these tales you won't know,
until you look deeper,
there's nothing to show
except an empty heart
you perpetually deceived
But I'm merely a fairy tale
that no one believed.
