The Rain Falls

Lost, in fading dreams

   like a myriad of shadows

    and here I am

afraid that the dark holds

      my nightmares

until I sleep

 

but it never comes

 

awake now,

   i count stars

until my head spins

   and my world tumbles

 from these clumsy fingers

 

then the rain falls

on my eyes

gently, so gently.

 

i remember that touch,

   it belonged to you.

 

So full of love

   but it's gone again.

these pieces of memories

  broken and lost forever

 

A story once written said:

 

"..and the heavens fell,

       with sadness and pain

   to wash us clean,

        the nighttime rain..."
