Lateral Scars

These eyes hold a sadness
that can never be read,
an anger, never able to quell...
this pain will never have it's happy face
but it'll be okay if you never see it

you can pretend it's not there
because i'm not on my knees
with mercury tears streaming
acid tracts that burn flesh
in lateral scars

you won't always have that reminder
unless you carve deeper
cleave through flesh and bone
and tear through my spirit
(or what's left)
seperate it like you were
digging for the wishbone
and you'll find me
hiding,
tucked away behind the facade
trembling
crying
weeping
scratcing words into my flesh...

I cannot forget, if the scars won't let me.
