I don't care that you don't like who I am
for not looking like you
or dressing like you
Or because I say fuck at least ten times a day.

I don't care when you condemn me
to a hell I don't believe in
And rush to hide your children when I walk by
(as if I could "corrupt" them with a single look alone)

If IT were that easy,
I would've done IT a long time ago.

And when you ask me what IT is,
I'll smile just big enough to show
off my tongue ring.

If corrupting your children means
opening their minds,
showing them that it's okay not to be the status-quo,
to think for themselves,
And to stand up for what they believe in,
(regardless of how different from YOUR opinions they are)

Then YES - I am here to corrupt your children.

Maybe there will be more tree-huggers,
gay men,
lesbians,
and . . .
dare I say,
the "awful L word"?
Liberal thinkers . . .

But at least,
they'll be real - not molded, younger versions of YOU.

They'll live for more than sitcoms,
petroleum,
the UN,
and their SUV's.

They'll make a difference,
because now they have a voice.

All I did,
was take your hands
off of their mouths.
