LATEST ASTROLOGY UPDATE                           January 2, 2009

I h
ope your holidays were bright and magical, and youre welcoming in the new year with fabulous intention and letting go of the old!

I sincerely wanted to touch base with you all on the 31st but we were enroute from SC to Denver and havent managed a moment of clarity to meditate on this until now nor did I have my library to back me!  But know that I was thinking of all of you the past two days and hoping that you were indeed making the most of the new year and the astrological changes were experiencing.  So lets get on to it!

RETROGRADES!
January

The big news is that Saturn went retrograde on December 31st.  The planets dont pay attention to the Gregorian calendar that we use, but they always align themselves at the right time for us!  Retrograde can seem like a scary word in Astrology, and usually brings a little mayhem when involved with Mercury.  But Saturn retro is quite nice, and will be so until May 17!  It means things will SLOW DOWN, (which I felt we needed, dont know about you!).  Saturn is the responsible planet, he governs our rules and boundaries, and when his motion is stagnant, it frees us up to reorganize, release, and restructure.  Focus on our responsibilities and where to draw our lines.  Although Saturn doesnt govern business aspects alone, it does affect them, and during these next four months we shouldnt start new businesses.  If thats not an option for you, you should support yourself as best you can by doing things slowly, especially in January, and wait until Mars goes direct to start something new.  Be patient with yourself, others and life in general during Saturn Retro, and focus on the introspective if you can.

That brings us to Mars. He went retrograde on 12/20 (sorry I didnt warn you!) and goes direct on January 30th and until then; we should be planning and strategizing.  This has been a time for focusing on our action plans, and when it goes direct well be blasted into Leos action.  This is a month NOT to start a new job, buy a major purchase, or start something big.  Again, introspection is the motto this month.

Last for retrogrades for now, Mercury does go retrograde on January 11th until February 1st.  Get your electronics in line before then, dont start something new (again), and speak all your new years wishes aloud before then, as communication and technology go into their tri-annual breakdown during those three weeks.

2009
Next I want to move on to the astrology for the year, a general overview.  This year has
SIX eclipses instead of four, sparking a year for change and motion, mysticism and spirituality.  We welcome a new president and a new government, we embark on fixing our economy and change on a global level, and in ourselves we must look inward during this very inspirational year.  Pluto went back into Capricorn on 11/28 and will be there for 12 years, organizing and disciplining our culture, and bringing ambition to our business and responsibility to our ethics. This started to happen in early 2008 but when it retrograded in the fall we felt ourselves stepping back. December saw the return of this vibration, but now in 2009 Pluto can really stretch his arms of change as he is the conduit of it.  Welcome in the new, people, its coming.  Our planets are also all in a very grounding place early this year, with Mars and Jupiter (Jan6) in Capricorn as well and Saturn in Virgo and retrograde.  Venus and Uranus are in a loving and pensive state of Pisces, and Mercury and Neptune are in free-minded Aquarius. The lack of fire in the sky is a wonderful thing, conflicts are minimal (except the neverending war in the heated middle east), and our words are clear and precise.  In fact, the only fire well see for the first six months is Venus in Aries (starting in Feb) which will bring a nice spark to our love life.
ELEVEN!
Actually, the best part of 2009 is the numerology of it.  2+0+0+9 equals 11, and in numerology, double numbers (11,22,33,44) are master numbers, they arent broken down to one number, and they are especially powerful years.  On an individual level, you are in your own numerological vibration from your birthday to the next, but as a unit, as we are one, we go through this 11 year together. Last year was a 1, if you may remember me saying, it was a hard year of new beginnings, alone time (perhaps too much of it), and the rebirth of cycles- always cycles you have not completed. So you may have been hit with something familiarly painful, and ready to move on.  SO BE IT! We enter 11, the master number of inspiration, tests, and quick decisions.  Sudden events will require decisive action.  Key words are excitement, impulse, patience, and tolerance.  It is a year for seeking balance and educating ourselves, for further developing our psychic intuitions and finding metaphysical discipline.  Also a year for great creative feats and artistic endeavors, culture, dreams, and visions.  Mark however that this number IS reduced to a 2 if you do not live up to your potential.  You WILL be tested and challenged, but in a good way.  If you are set in your life path, you will continue to grow. If you arent, make note of the subtle leads that spark your intuition and follow them.  Master numbers offer master accomplishments!

Crystals for this year: amethyst, blue topaz, blue sunstone, blue tigers eye, black tourmaline, and sugilite. Use them wisely.

Please take this weekend to sit down and focus your intentions for the year, for without creating, we have no creation!  Make a ceremony of it, write it down and look at it next new years. Mail it to yourself for an extra Umph!  Dont forget to release something (or several!) as well to make room for the new!
