| The title refers to a lecture, fully entitled "Responding to Evil: Vengeance, Forgiveness and Reconciliation." The lecture was given by Professor Jeffrie G. Murphy at the ASU law school (The Joan and David Lincoln Center for Applied Ethics) in Spring, 2002. Basically, it answers the following question: "Suppose you have been a victim of crime or other serious wrongdoing. What kind of victim should you try to be - a vindictive victim seeking vengeance, or a forgiving victim perhaps seeking reconciliation?" The institution has refused permission to post the lecture on my site. However, they are willing to mail a hard copy to anyone who would like one. If you are interested, please email your request to Stacey Russell. |
