| The Arizona Republic January 13, 2002 "Your Voices" QUESTION: If you ruled the state, what would you have the Legislature do this year? I would have them pay attention to real problems suffered by the average person. These guys spend too much time and too much money helping people who don't need help. Attracting businesses with minimum wage jobs helps only the already wealthy. We need to educate people and help them create their own wealth, not create wealth for others. For example, any idea of a sports stadium to be paid for by the public has got to go. If the Cardinals want a stadium, fine - they can pay for it themselves. Or the Bidwells can pay for it. The Legislature has to work to make a difference in the lives of all Arizonans, not just their buddies. |
