Welcome to my Bass & Guitar page...

I am a 32 year old bloke from the Isle of Wight in the UK and I am looking for an exciting musical project.
I have been playing guitar & bass since I was 15 years old and I also sing. I was the original guitarist with
Island band 'Taboo' and have also been in 'F-Beat', 'Blue Angel' and short-lived but funky band 'The Masterplan'
I have also played in various duos & trios have stood-in on countless gigs and functions.

Bass Guitar

I have always had a strong affinity with the bass. I play finger & slap style (no picks/plectrums!) and just love the expressive,
percussive nature of the bass.

My main bass is a beautiful 1987 Warwick Thumb Bass (see pics on 'Gear' page). This is a one-off custom model
and was one of the original handmade basses from the old Warwick factory. It was also one of the first to be fitted
with the now legendary two-piece bridge/tailpiece (earlier Warwicks were fitted with a standard Schaller bridge).

My Thumb features 18v Status Hyperactive pickups and electronics with a 3-band EQ, blend & colum controls.
These were factory fitted, along with LED side markers. Sadly the LED's no longer work but I am sorting this out soon.

As you will see from the pictures, this is a thru-neck bass. The body is bubinga and the neck is made up from a delicious
sandwich of wenge & ovangkol. The dark chocolate brown fretboard is adorned with stunning blue ablone dot markers.
It's pretty heavy but balances perfectly on a strap. If you have ever played a Thumb bass, you will know just how figure
huggingly fantastic they are to play. The body is small yet perfectly formed and the neck is long and gracefull but not so
long that you can't reach down to the low notes.

Everything about this bass jutst oozes class & style. It's fairly safe to say that I love my Thumb Bass!!!

Bass Amp

Having owned three Trace Elliot amps over the years, I have never been totally happy with the sound. If I got it right,
the overall output of the amp suffered due to the fact that if I adjusted the EQ in such a way as to compromise the
headroom of the amp. If I got it loud enough, the EQ just wasn't right.

The answer came in the shape of a
Hartke HA4000 amp and a Hartke 4 x 10" cabinet. This thing kicks ass and sounds
the business. Job done!!!
