| Typical ICR Trains TRAIN DESIGNATION: #41 TRAIN NAME: ATLANTIC LIMITED (Westbound) CLASS: Thru Passenger ROUTE: Saint John to Montreal via McAdam FREQUENCY: Daily CONSIST: * express reefers in bulk mail service * baggage car * skyline cafe/lounge dome coach * dining car (heavy travel days only) * sleeping car(s). 4 sections, 6 roomettes, 6 bedrooms Montreal / Saint John (Montreal / McAdam, heavy travel days) 12 sections, drawing room (Montreal / McAdam, heavy travel days) MOTIVE POWER: In the off season (7 or fewer cars): One unit, E-7 #708, E-7 #711 or substitute Moderate season (8 to 11 cars): Two units, F-7A #402, #403, #405 F-7B #415 GP-7 #560, #563, #567 Heavy season (12+ cars): Any 3 F or GP passenger units ENROUTE PROCEDURES: AT SAINT JOHN: (a) The Saint John yard crew makes up the consist of train 41 from cars arriving on train 42 ( turns as needed) and other cars as ordered by the trainmaster. The consist is placed on departure track 4 at Union Station facing westward (toward the left) See the consist order above. If the consist is to have more than three sleepers, the diner is to be positioned behind the first sleeper rather than directly behind the dome car. (b) The Saint John yard crew assembles the required engines (see above) facing westward and couples them to the consist before 6 p.m. departure. (c) The yard crews at Saint John and Dever Road set the necessary track blocks to mainline cab at the request of the Dispatcher. (d) The train engineer/conductor receives clearance from the Dispatcher, rings the engine bell and begins the run, testing the brakes at Roundhouse Road and turns off the bell. (e) The engineer slows for the crossover at Lancaster and gives the approach signal. AT DEVER ROAD, GRAND BAY, WELSFORD, FREDERICTON JUNCTION, HARVEY STATION, and NEWCOMB. (a) The engineer/ conductor pauses the train at these passenger stations so that the baggage car door, first coach door and, if possible, the first sleeping car door, are at the platform to entrain/detrain passengers. If necessary, a double stop may be made to accommodate sleeping car passengers. AT NEWCOMB (a) While stopped at the station the engineer/ conductor will OS the Dispatcher of his location and will proceed toward McAdam when clearance to do so is received from the Dispatcher. The Dispatcher will first request the McAdam Yardmaster to set the needed blocks. AT McADAM (a) The engineer stops the train at the station (9 P.M....) so that the engines are beside the fuel and water service pipes at the West End of station platform. (b) The engineer/ conductor informs the Dispatcher that the run is complete and turns in the cab control. (c) The McAdam yard crew, using the yard cab, adds any sleeping cars etc. to the train as authorized by the Train master. (d) The McAdam yard crew runs the train (9:30 P.M....) to the designated track in Vanceboro (Fiddleloop) and shuts off all blocks under it. (e) Train #41 proceeds on its imaginary over night journey for another 350 miles across Maine and the Eastern Townships to Montreal. At an isolated siding in the middle of the night it will meet its eastbound counterpart, #42, scheduled to arrive in McAdam at 7:00 a.m. ENHANCING OPERATIONS: The operation of the train is enhanced by adherence to the GENERAL CODE OF OPERATING RULES and the OPERATING TIMETABLE especially concerning prototypical starts/stops, whistle signals, and Island Standard Time. E-5.1 TRAIN DESIGNATION: #101 15/01/99 TRAIN NAME: THE FAST FREIGHT (Westbound) CLASS: General Thru Freight ROUTE: Clarwood Yard to Mainland via Wilderness Park and Fiddleloop SCHEDULED: Called for 9 p.m. departure at Clarwood Yard most days MOTIVE POWER: (2-3 units)C-424's, GP-35's, SD-7's plus sound unit TRAFFIC PATTERNS: Almost all freight traffic originating at Eastern Division points and destined for North American locations is eventually handled on train 101. The exceptions are most intermodal and import/ export port products. Train # 101 delivers its traffic to MAINLAND YARD (350 miles west of Wilderness Park and across Causeway) for interchange with other North American carriers. Car loads originating in the Greater Islandport Region are assembled train #101 at Clarwood Yard. Traffic from Orchardfield and the Harmony Bay Branch is usually added to this train at Orchardfield (track 41) by the road power enroute after being assembled by the Branch local. Traffic collected by local train on the mainline west of Orchardfield, including Millboro and Wilderness Park, is currently added to #101 by the yard crew at Wilderness Park as are commodities from the Shiretown Branch. Train #101 is usually the longest on the division. The exceptions are most intermodal and import/export products. Train #102 receives its interchange traffic at MAINLAND YARD (350 miles west of Wilderness Park and across Causeway) It is usually blocked for set out by Mainland. Car loads destined for the Greater Islandport Region are carried thru to Clarwood Yard by train #102. Traffic for Orchardfield and the Harmony Bay Branch is usually set out by #102 on track 41 at Orchardfield for the the Branch Local to handle.
