I've quickly reviewed my favorite Fiction Authors and Books.
Island's Book Rating Key of Doom:
*     - none at all
**    - little
***   - enough to satisfy
****  - enjoyable
***** - Talking to book while reading
Goodkind published the first Sword of Truth novel in 1994 and has been steadily writting and publishing since then.His books include Wizard's First Rule, Stone of Tears, Blood of the Fold, Temple of the Winds, Soul of the Fire, Faith of the Fallen, Pillars of Creation, and soon to be released Naked Empire.(July 21st)

The novels document the journies of Richard and Kalhan, two young people thrown into positions of extreme responsibility. They struggle to protect their people, eachother, and their love as one seemingly impossble conflict after another arise. They meet hundreds of colorful and interesting characters in a variety of interesting locations.

My thoughts: By far, the best series I have ever read. I've gotten emotionally involved in these characters and their plight. There is never a dull moment, and everyone I know has quickly become addicted to these books. I suggest them above any other.

Sarah Douglass
Douglass is an Australian writer who, until recently, had not been published in North America. Its kind of a funny story, the way I came upon her books, that is. But I'm terribly confident that that doesn't really matter.

The Wayfarer Redemption was published in 1995 and was the first book in a trilogy that is completed by the two following novels: Enchanter and StarMan. They cronicle the path of an ancient profecy called "The Profecy of the Destroyer." Axis, Faraday and Azhure all play key roles in saving the planet from the evil Gorgreal (Axis' half brother.) Love triangles, loss, adventure, winged people and severe tragedy made Douglass' books highly emotionally taxing, but worth it.

My Thoughts: The story takes a while to pick up speed. But it is one of those epics that you find yourself going "Oh yea so thats why...." while your reading the later book.

James Clemens
Clemens has written five novels starting with Wit'ch Fire (1998) and including Wit'ch Storm, Wit'ch War, Wit'ch Gate and Wit'ch Star. The "Books of the Banned and the Banished" or as I like to call them the Wit'ch Books, are presented to the reader in an unusual format. In the beginning and at the end of each book there are two sets of commentary. One, from the leader of a sect of fictional monk like politicians, to the aspiring students learning to join it, and the second from the fictional writer of the text explaining his prupose etc... It sounds complicated, but it is actually very interesting and disorienting. The first novel begins with these words: "First of all, the author is a liar."

The actual epic follows Elena, the wit'ch, as she learns to harness her power and journeys on an obligitory quest to defeat an ancient evil force. Along the way one simple messege is delivered to the reader, but hidden until the very end. The length of the sotry emphasizes the improtance of this messege to the Author.

My Thoughts: This is a real journey worth taking. The style is easy to read and quick as well.
