| Across Barataria Pass from Grand Isle, is Grand Terre Island, home of aging Fort Livingston and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries laboratory. From there, biologists restored the brown pelican population of Louisiana which now now nests on Queen Bess Island about one mile north of Grand Terre. The laboratory has conducted many studies related to the movement of fish. |
