The
Old Grand Isle Fishing Bridge
The Old Grand Isle Fishing Bridge still stands as Louisiana's top free-fishing pier.

The old Grand Isle Bridge crosses Caminada Pass only a few hundred yards from the main pass itself, and a natural passageway for all kinds of desirable game and food fish from the Gulf and the bays & Bayous behind Grand Isle.

The old bridge is no longer used for cars and trucks.

The old bridge is now a recreational playground for sports fishermen and their families. It's wide, sturdy, safe and provides access to one of the best fishing holes anywhere. And on top of that--300 yards in the middle of the structure--straddle the constant passageway for speckled trout, redfish, Flounder, Spanish Mackeral and many other species, all the most sought after game and food fish along the entire Louisiana coast. And there is no charge.

The old bridge is wide and sturdy. The railings are strong and boarded so that kids can't easily slip through and fall to the water. You can make entry from either end.

There are times when it's crowded, but, because of the length of the span, there always seems to be room enough for more. You can open up a card table for making sandwiches and serving meals, take some feather-light folding chairs. A rod and reel and a simple tackle box with hooks and sinkers and maybe a cork or two is all one needs to fish the bridge.

A silver spoon with a yellow bucktail, or a Cocahoe jig are all you need to attract the specks.
