Coast Guard Station Grand Isle
Station Grand Isle is located approximately 30 miles west of the Mississippi River on the only inhabited island in Louisiana.  The station has a very large area of responsibility which extends 150 nautical miles from Empire Canal to White Lake; it includes over 5,000 square miles of bayous south of the Intra-coastal Waterway. The station's major missions are search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, recreational boating safety, commercial vessel safety and marine environmental protection. The current station building and its 13 family housing units were constructed in 1967/68. The station operates two 41-foot utility boats and one 21-foot rigid hull inflatable boat.

Coast Guard Cutter POINT SAL (WPB 82352)
The POINT SAL is an 82-foot, multi-mission patrol boat. It was built by the J. M. Martinac Shipbuilding Corporation in Tacoma, Washington, and was commissioned in 1966. Since that time, its homeport has been Grand Isle, Louisiana. It's moored at Coast Guard Station Grand Isle. The Cutter's major missions are search and rescue (SAR), maritime law enforcement (MLE), recreational boating safety (RBS), commercial vessel safety (CVS) and marine environmental protection (MEP).
