Al-Quran
By: Naufal Alkaff
Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Rahiim.
The Quran says:
It is a
Quran which We have divided (into parts), in order that you might recite it to
men at intervals. And We have revealed it by stages (in 23 years).
[17:106]
Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Quran, as a guide to mankind, also clear (signs) for guidance and judgement (between right and wrong)... [2:185]
Verily, We have revealed it (Quran) in the night of Destiny. [97:1]
And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (the Quran) to Our slave (Muhammad s.a.w.), then produce a Surah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allah, if you are truthful. But if you do it not, then fear the Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers. [2:23-24]
Verily, We Ourself have sent the Reminder, and most surely We will be its Guardian. [15:9]
This is the Book; In it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who Fear God. [2:2]
The Holy Quran
The Holy Quran has been revealed to Prophet
Muhammad (saw), in parts, at different times and occasions during a period of 23
years. There are 114 Chapters in the Holy Quran. Each Chapter or portion of the
Quran is called "Surah", which means degree or step. Some Surahs are long and
some are short.
Al-Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadhan on a certain night which thence forward receive the name "Lailat Al-Qadr" or the Night of Majesty.
The Holy Quran was revealed in Arabic language. All messengers of Allah (swt) had their revelation in their respective languages to make things easy and to explain to the people clearly.
Total number of Verses is 6,240 or including the 113 "Bismillahi". Verses with which the Chapters open the total becomes 6,353. Every Chapter of the Holy Quran begins with the "Bismillahi". Verse except the Chapter the ninth (Surah At-Tawbah or Bara'at).
Al-Quran- The Greatest Miracle
Al-Quran is a rational,
miraculous challenge that appeals to the mind and calls upon people to think in
logical terms. It stands as a miracle, by its sheer existence, because the
Islamic religion serves the needs of all human beings, in all ages, and will
remain as such for all times to come.
The miracle of Islam lies in the fact that it is simple to understand, that it Embodies a form of knowledge which is of permanent value to human beings, that it does not depend, for its proof, upon past miracles which might be open to doubt in later years.
The Holy Quran stands as a miracle to all the nations of the world. Islam is endowed with a vital power that safeguards its principles from decay, and enables its followers to follow the right path effortlessly. This is because its teachings are all set up in the Quran, and the Quran is not itself open to any change for ever and ever after.
