Sports Day
Every year, in September, schools have a "sports day."  As the name suggests, it's a day in which the kids all come to school on Saturday and play games, but not conventional sports.  It's more like three-legged races (only with a big twist here), and capture the flag, and relay races.  It's more or less a big bonding day for the kids, and as near as I can tell all schools, at all grade levels, do it.  It was kind of fun, but I had to go to two of them, which got a little redundant.  Still, it's a neat day (and it lasts all day long--about 9-5).  Here's some pictures.
Each team paints a sign (which is a contest of its own) to represent them.  Below are the signs from one of my schools.  All teachers are assigned to a team, and I was with purple--their picture is an akuma, a devil (it's from behind and those streaky things are wings).
These are a couple of the games.  Above is a capture the flag-like game, mixed with "chicken."  To the left is what is best described as a "multi-legged race"--it's like a three-legged race, but with a whole squad of kids.  Each team had two or three groups like this and they ran a relay.
