| The kitchen | |||||||||||||
| I'm fortunate enough to have a good-sized apartment, and that includes a decent kitchen. You can see I have a large-ish table there, which is very useful and not too common from what I've seen of others' apartments. Also, I have a 2-range gas stove, but no oven. Instead I have a little fish cooker (the drawer in the middle, on the front). I don't make fish, and it's not too useful for much else, but I can make toast in it, so that's good. | |||||||||||||
| Here are my sink and my small refrigerator and microwave. The fridge is pretty little, but it serves my purposes. Again, it's about the right size for a single person. Oh and all those plastic bottles, they're just waiting to be recycled--the garbage only goes about twice a month here. | |||||||||||||
| The "washroom" | |||||||||||||
| Above: My washing machine. The shoe is there for reference (it's about 12 inches or so long). The shoe is sitting on the actual washer (which, as you've probably figured out, is quite small), while the thing to the right is my spin drier thing. Basically, you toss your clothes in, set it for a few minutes, and pull them out, damp rather than sopping, and then hang them up to air dry the rest of the way. It's a bit tedious. Above right and right: my very small-but-deep bathtup, and my shower. Pretty basic stuff and not too special. The tub cover is pretty gross, and I need to clean it before I'm willing to use it, I'm just lazy. I haven't used the tub yet, but it's just for soaking and relaxing--in Japan, they bathe outside the tub, then get in it (all squeaky clean) just to soak. They keep it very hot, and it's just a relaxation thing. |
