Fallen Angel, Chapter 2: Second Nature |
Is it a nightmare? Is it an illusion? Is it an evil? Is it a fantasy? Is it alive? Whatever it is, if this one doesn't scare you...you're already dead.
\The scene opens on Saturday. Just 4 days ago the monster Phantasm fought Achilles in a brutal contest, but still destroyed him by breaking a chair over his skull. Right now Phantasm is alone. For the first time in awhile. Rodney has stepped out to conduct some business regarding possible Phantasm merchandise. Phantasm knows the fans like him but he doesn't understand why. He is brutal, violent and destroys people. He expected to be hated or even feared. But he did not expect to be embraced by the HWA fans./
\He hears footsteps outside. He stands to his feet awaiting what he thinks is Rodney but instead an envelope is slid under the door. Phantasm bends down and picks up the envelope. It is addressed to Rodney. Phantasm holds onto it until there is another set of approaching footsteps. Rodney enters the dressing room./ Rodney: Hey what's going on. \Phantasm stares at the envelope. There is no return address which even the monster finds odd. He hands it off to Rodney who looks at it./ Rodney: It doesn't say who it's from. I guess I'll open it anyway. \Rodney opens the letter and what appears to be a plane ticket falls out. He ignores it but Phantasm doesn't. It says Denver, CO on the ticket. Phantasm knows where that is. He looks up at Rodney who is in shock over the letter./ Rodney: It's a letter from Angel. \Phantasm cocks his head to the side when his thoughts are confirmed./ Rodney: She says she wants to discuss a return to professional wrestling. I know Angel though and this doesn't seem right. She'd call as opposed to sending a letter. It's gotta be a fake. \Somehow the possibility of a fake letter seems unlikely to Phantasm. He has been wanting to find Angel for months now and this seems like a perfect oppurtunity. So far he has been unsuccessful. Tracking C4 down has been just as hard. Phantasm sees this as an oppurtunity and he immediately snatches the plane ticket off of the floor./ Rodney: Don't even think about it. Not only do you have a match on Tuesday... \Phantasm looks at Rodney as if to say that Rodney knows Phantasm will be back for his match. Rodney seems to understand.\ Rodney: Yes I know you'll be back. I know you're not going to let your undefeated streak and your Devil's Ring title go to waste by not showing up. I know you want to get more gold in the form of the TV title. I know you'll be back. But that's not the point Phantasm. The point is it's a futile search. That letter has to be fake. Angel does not want to be found. She's not going to be in Denver, and she's not even going to be in Richmond. \Phantasm begins to get angry with Rodney. He has felt for the longest time that he failed Angel when he couldn't get to C4 and she became so upset she left wrestling for what appears to be forever. Not only that but she has virtually vanished from the face of the earth. Rodney knows that Phantasm needs to do this, but is trying to stop him./ Rodney: You're going to go anyway aren't you? \Phantasm nods. Even if there is the slightest possibility he could find Angel, he wants to take it./ Rodney: Then I guess I'm going with you. There's no reason to stay here and besides I should make sure you get back in time. Let's grab our things. \Phantasm knows that Rodney is his friend. He looks out for the monster when who knows if anyone else has. They each grab their seperate luggage and leave the arena. Their destination: Denver, Colorado/ TO BE CONTINUED....
