\Title/
Grand Illusion
Phantasm...
Is it a nightmare? Is it an illusion? Is it an evil? Is it a fantasy? Is it alive?
Whatever it is, if this one doesn't scare you...you're already dead.

\Darkness. All we see is darkness. The room where are in doesn't even have a crack of light. Nothing. We hear deep breathing. This could be taken to be anything. A door opens and a crack of light shines down and we see a glimpse of the source of the noise. A large giant man wearing a dirty tattered mask. The monster. Phantasm. A voice is heard from the top of the stairway./

Rodney: Phantasm? Are you down here?

\He flips a light switch to reveal a medium-sized boiler room. A lone chair sits in the middle with Phantasm sitting there, adjusting his eyes to the light. He stands up and looks towards Rodney, his manager, who is making his way down to him./

Rodney: We have to go, I was called on my cell phone and told that we would be learning your first matchup at the arena.

\Phantasm nods, eager to find out who he is facing. He threw himself into exile searching for his former employer, whom he believed had originally been injured or hurt. Upon completing his self-imposed mission, he found closure, and went back to the world he had recently embraced./

Rodney: I rented a truck with a big cab to accomodate you, like before. The arena actually isn't very far from here, so all we need is to stop by Vic Panter's office to get the card.

\Phantasm leaves the boiler room and it is revealed they are in a hotel. A man gives Phantasm an odd look as he steps out. A woman looks scared. He follows behind Rodney who is quickly trying to get him out. They get inside the truck and drive, and true to his word, Rodney arrives at the arena not long after./

Rodney: Okay I'm going to go in and get the information we need. Do you want to wait out here?

\Phantasm nods. He takes a stroll to a darkened alley and leans against a wall. Rodney looks at him for a moment and then heads inside. Phantasm sinks into his own thoughts, almost a trance. Suddenly he is snapped out of it by a voice further down the alley./

Voice: You're Phantasm aren't you?

\The voice sounds feminine. Phantasm nods to whomever is speaking. His curiousity gets the better of him and he continues down the alley. Standing next to a dumpster, filing her nails is a small woman. She could be classified as a goth, from the way she dresses. All black clothing and makeup. She's filing her nails, not looking at Phantasm./

Woman: I'm a fan, you could say. I love your work.

\Phantasm just stares. She's wearing an intoxicating fragerence, if he noticed such things. She stands up and looks at him./

Woman: My name is Alexis. I don't just stand out here waiting for wrestlers. I was intentionally waiting for you. I have a business proposition for you.

\Phantasm rolls his eyes, showing more personality than he's ever done. It's obvious to him what this woman is. He turns around and begins walking back towards the entrance./

Alexis: And it's not that, monster. Don't worry, I'm not a prostitute, or even some cop pretending to be one.

\Phantasm keeps walking. Even if she's not a hooker, she's wasted too much of his time./

Alexis: I know your weakness.

\Phantasm turns his head slowly towards her. He'd laugh if he felt capable of it. Phantasm? The monster? A weakness? She obviously did not watch enough of his matches./

Alexis: You have no voice. No one takes you seriously. Sure, you can keep on destroying people to prove your point, but no one will take you seriously when you are just labeled "a monster" going into matches. You need someone to speak for you. Someone who knows how people like you think. I want to be that person. I told you it was a business proposition.

\Phantasm turns back around and stares down at her. She looks right up at him. She doesn't seem the least bit intimidated. This strikes him as odd. Even Rodney is intimidated. Rodney knows Phantasm wouldn't hurt him, but he's still intimidated. This woman seems to like the raw agressiveness Phantasm is clearly showing. He is intrigued. Suddenly he hears another voice.

Rodney: Phantasm you are going to have a tough time in your debut......

\Phantasm turns back around. He can see a small look of shock on Rodney's face. Alexis just glares at him./

Rodney: Who the hell is this? Don't tell me you got mixed up with a hooker.

Alexis: I've been getting that a lot today. It must be these damn stilettos.

Rodney: Well then who are you?

Alexis: My name is Alexis. I'm a wrestling manager. I work mainly the independent scene and I made your monster here an offer I don't think he can refuse.

Rodney: First of all, I'm his manager and...

Alexis: Don't get all pissy with me. I'm not trying to replace you. You are his business manager and you do your job well. Besides I don't think Phantasm would approve of that. No, I am here to offer myself as a spokesperson.

Rodney: A spokesperson.

\Phantasm can see Rodney is not liking the idea. Phantasm is still intrigued, and looks at Alexis, as if urging her to continue./

Alexis: Yes, a spokesperson. Listen Rodney, I've followed Phantasm's career here because I was trying to get a job with HWA when I first saw his match. Been watching ever since. I followed IWA because I knew Vic would offer Phantasm a job. He did with most HWA stars. You handle the business well and you are his friend, but you don't know wrestling. You've never been in there. I have. And I do. But because of injuries I can't do that anymore.

Rodney: So you want to mooch off of Phantasm's success?

Alexis: No. I can be useful to him. I can make him a bigger success. For example, who is he fighting this week?

\Phantasm looks down at Rodney. He too, is eager to learn this information./

Rodney: Some guy named Mr. E. 7'4, 500 pounds.

\Phantasm nods. This seems interesting. Someone actually bigger than him, both in weight and height. He nods again in approval./

Rodney: I wouldn't be nodding if I wrestling him. He 's almost twice your weight and almost an entire foot taller than you. I don't think you would even be able to get him up for a Frailty.

\Phantasm wants to argue. But before he gets the chance to do anything, Alexis interrupts him./

Alexis: Sure he could. He just has to be smart about it. Take out the legs, somehow force Mr. E up top and hit a turnbuckle version. He wouldn't be able to hold him up as long but it'd still be just as effective. It would look weaker, but again it would get the job done.

Rodney: You're right. I wouldn't have thought of that. You've sold me on the idea. If it's okay with Phantasm.

\Phantasm nods his head in agreement. To be honest with himself, he didn't think of it either. He looks down as Alexis and Rodney shake hands. He rubs his hands together. Mr. E is the first of many in IWA to suffer. Beware, he thinks to himself...beware the evil of the monster./
