Two poems from Isis Rising have been nominated for the Rhysling Award for Speculative Poetry published in 2000, given by the Science Fiction Poetry Association. "Poem for Persephone," by Mary Rudbeck Stanko and "Nehebka," by Denise Dumars are the nominees from Isis Rising--so far!
Why the nomination? Many of the poets in Isis Rising are members of the SFPA. The SFPA supports poetry in the related genres of science fiction, fantasy, horror, speculation, science, mythology, and surrealistic/slipstream or otherwise unclassifiable poetry--in other words, anything but "mainstream" poetry. It is an honor to be nominated. Only members of the SFPA may nominate (and no, you cannot nominate your own poem!) are are limited to nominated one poem under 50 lines and one poem over 50 lines. For more information on the SFPA, email Scott Green, SFPA President, at [email protected]
