Pairing: 1x2 This Side of Me (music starts) Heero slowly creeps down the dark hallway of Quatre�s safe house to the room Duo is sleeping in. He comes to the room and opens the door carefully. I want to move in time with you Heero slowly and quietly walks over to the bed where Duo is sleeping and kneels beside it.
I want to feel the deepest kiss Duo�s soft breathing told Heero he was sleeping deeply and the slightest touch would not wake him. He smiled tenderly watching his angel sleep. Carefully, he brushed his fingers over Duo�s delicate features.

They could only run a few yards outside of the compound before another band of soldiers started firing at them. Duo tumbled and hid behind a brick wall. When he looked up, Heero was gone. He frantically looked everywhere for him and then saw him making a run for his gundam, with a soldier taking aim.

Heero saw the shock and pain twist the face of the boy he loved and watched him begin to fall. Heero caught him and pulled him behind another wall. �Duo?! Duo, can you hear me?!� �Heero� I didn�t want them to get you.� �Duo no BAKA YARO!!� Heero shouted. Duo only smiled. �Better me than you.� Heero pulled off him tank top and held it over the wound to stop the bleeding. What Duo said next scared him so deeply. �Heero, I love you, I always have.� Heero knew what was going to come next. He didn�t watch too much TV but he had watched enough to know what was next. To stop Duo from saying anything to the effect of �I don�t think I�m gonna make it�, he pulled the young man into his arms and held him there. I feel the danger, the separation Later, he was by his side in the hospital as they rolled Duo into the Emergency Room, but was forced to leave his side as they rolled the gurney into surgery. For this one time, one time He carefully pulled his arms around him so he wouldn�t hit the sore where the gunshot wound used to be. Heero broke the kiss and looked into Duo�s eyes. �Ai shiteru, Duo.� Duo smiled. Heero smiled back, and pulled the sheets and blankets around them both, keeping out the lonely chill of the night air.
For just one time, one time They kissed again, longer this time. When it was over, they snuggled closer to each other, and fell asleep listening to each other�s heartbeats.
